I just loved this video, and your description of Ireland as you found it, it seems to have lived up to your expectations, which I am delighted about. You really have caught the essence of our country and culture, and have narrated this in such a moving and hilarious - at times - way. I nearly fell off the couch laughing, when you said that you got stuck behind a septic tank, on your way to the parade, which was on it's way to take part in it, that really is so Irish, can't get much more so. You have a gorgeous family, full of the joys of life, it's infectious. Looking forward to following you on your future adventures, a fan from Limerick 💜 x

Me too, I laughed my ass off at the septic tank part and then seeing him again in the parade....we have such weird humour LOL

Notice how the country side houses are like smaller versions of american countryside houses , lots of american architecture was taken to america by the irish and it became replicated into the architecture that still is in america even today

Backroad I think the Influence is the other way around.Dublin and the east has more anglicised influence whereas the west is more influenced by america for example country music is the favourite music. Also ireland is very sparsely populated outside dublin so there is plenty of space for one story bungalows ,Western films would have had an impact as well ,because many of the houses are of a mock Hacienda style.

We used to live in a realllly small town right by the Grand Canyon, and so we prefer the small home-town parades. They have the most character and sense of community

  • @gallowglass2630

Thats the real ireland. You won't get that at a dublin parade or other cities and large towns parades. The black and tans weren't invading as such because the ireland was already under british control, they were brought over to put down the rebellion(which succeeded) ,but they targeted mostly civilians which is why they are hated to this day .The song is very popular at the moment because the war of independence years centenary commemorations are about now.
They are many young people involved in folk music, because it runs through families and because folk music is fully integrated into the music scene of the country, for example you won't see folk musicians playing wearing folk costumes in ireland.

Wow, thank you for sharing. I love learning more. And that is so cool about the folk music, that makes sense, and just makes me appreciate it even more.
