I have a really good friend who is about 5'10" and he was weighing around 250 or 265.. he was on high blood pressure medication and he wasn't healthy because he's a truck driver but is very active. He is now 62 and been on a keto diet and eats salads .he's off blood pressure medication and down to 185 and healthier than he has been in decades. He also quit drinking so much budweiser beer.
So why did you choose Douglas Fir for your laminate wood? Does it have some particular qualities that make it better for this type of application than other woods?
Yes Douglas fir like Sitka spruce, although most people think that Sitka spruce is even better but it’s more expensive both types of wood grow very tall and straight and they have good strength to breaking statistics. For spars, which are the masts or spreaders, or in this case bowsprit, you want the wood to not just be strong but also to be flexible to some degree. Teak and other hardwoods are very very strong and resist rot but they do not have the bending ability that some of these other woods have. However I would’ve put teak in the bowsprit for its rot resistance but it was just so expensive compared to clear Douglasfir. Thank you
Very well done Kristofer. It turned out fantastic. Hopefully I don’t ever have to do it, but now I know how.

Thanks so much!
