- The Clemson Tigers improved to 4-0 on the 2020 season, defeating the Miami Hurricanes 42-17 in Death Valley. The Tigers dominated on both sides of the ball, holding the Miami offense to just 210 yards and 1 touchdown in the game and putting up 550 yards and 6 touchdowns of their own. Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence threw for 292 yards and 3 touchdowns, and rushed for a touchdown. Tigers running back Travis Etienne rushed for 149 yards and 2 touchdowns. Tight end Braden Galloway hauled in 4 passes for 74 yards and 2 of them touchdowns for the Tigers. For Miami, quarterback D’Eriq King rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown, but struggled throwing for just 121 yards and 2 interceptions.

Idk Im sure or not sure how long you been watching Clemson but It's getting close with him and CJ Spiller. I watch spiller entire career and also now Etn. Spiller still did more with less talent around him and he truly was the entire offense. Everything flowed through him. If he didn't have a great game we were certainly bound to lose especially against really good defensive teams. I don't know if Etn could do the same in those years. Plus the ACC defense were way better as well especially FSU Vtech and a few others. Boston College was good at one point or at least competitive. Cj catch the ball better but Etn breaks tackles better. It's not close to me either. Spiller could too but Etn is all time great at that. Imma see how Etn finish the year but he could slide in that spot in most eyes.
Jalil Johnson I love to watch Cj and I do believe he’s definitely one of the best to ever play at Clemson. I just think Etn has one thing Spliier didn’t have as much and that’s the power to run thru tackles. Spiller was an extremely elusive player and fast as hell, but James Davis was the power back when they were playing together. I have to agree with you though with the talent levels cause if Cj had the team that Etn has this would just be a comment about Etn being a great back and not the goat to me

Ole Miss killed Bama with speed and piss poor tackling. Ole Miss is going to give several teams fits. Having said that only reason first half Bama had pressure on them is cause of the fumble by Najee.
Lane is one of the best offensive minds in college football. And I say this as a person who despises Lane. There is no other team in all of College football that can stress the Bama defense way Ole Miss did. Clemson will do it differently as will Georgia and maybe Ohio State.

Im not just saying that bc im a fan but literally any little thing that happened was flags or they wouldn't call things when it clearly happened. But when clemson had the ball every single play had 5 replays but when miami did something and it wasn't fair they just kept playing. The fucking sack that they called targeting like really??? They didnt even throw a flag and they go and call it targeting way late when it was a clean tackle. Football is so soft now. Like the point of their position is to tackle the qb but when you get a good hit your gonna get in trouble for it. Many many terrible calls against miami when they didnt do anything.

Clemson outright showed why they’re the best team. Miami’s QBs combined for 0 Tds and 3 pic’s (passing) along with only 89 yards including a 56 yard blunder. Skill Gap between clemson and the rest of the ACC is so far apart.

I admit this game was a stinker for us, We can’t be blaming the refs for everything like almost everyone is doing, our wide receivers couldn’t make catches when they need to, our defense couldn’t stop Etienne, I don’t know about half these play calls Rhett Lashlee was calling, but they didn’t work, D’ Eriq King needs to control where he is throwing because he threw 2 INTs in this game, and for crying out loud, WE CAN’T TAKE 16 GOD DAMN PENALTIES! On the bright side, we did block 2 field goals and got a scoop’ n ‘score before halftime so that’s good. Either way, that game is behind us and all we can really do is focus on those issues and prepare for our game at Pitt. I’m just being upright and honest here, I admit we didn’t play as well as we needed to by a long shot and we have to get that behind us and prepare for the next one! Best comment I've seen from a Canes fan on TH-cam all day. I just think Miami shot themselves in the foot so many times early in the game. The offsides on 4th down comes to mind. But what surprised me is the offensive gameplan for Miami. Thought we would see A LOT more designed runs for King. I don't know of The U is back by any means, but if they can finish the year solid, I think it'll give them some confidence. Next season will decide what type of coach Manny Diaz is, with his own QB recruit. What happened tonight is a good team played an elite team who was focused. As a Clemson fan, I've been through plenty of these through the years lol. Best thing to do is take it as a learning experience and build from it.

Speaking as Clemson's arch rival, they're in a league of their own. We have the fun experience of playing them every year in the Palmetto Bowl. This game was Clemson's to lose and but overall Miami is heading in the right direction. Despite this loss the team still is still at top-15 program and I wouldn't cut them out of the ACC title picture just yet. As for Clemson, yeah it's a juggernaut. Kudos to Swinney and what he's done. I'm a Gamecock alum (2010-2014) that got to see the best of our showdowns with the Tigers. We'd be so fortunate to have a program builder come in again and do what Spurrier did and what Swinney has been doing. Miami needs to take this loss and put to bed. How they respond to it will show how good they truly are. A ton of football left to play.

Clemson looks like the old Miami teams used to be. As a 46 year old 💨 I was spoiled watching those old teams and I also know that they had to earn it. Greatness is built on dedication to perfection, mental and physical toughness, playing like men among boys act like you been there and done that. Nothing is handed to you it has to be earned. Right now that d line and o line has to earn other teams respect . Not there yet but I’ve seen improvements. Time for some humble pie 🥧 now , so we can open cans of woopass later.
One of the biggest compliments I heard for Clemson was when Bud Foster said Clemson reminded him of those old Miami teams. That was when we had Sammy, Nuk, and Andrea Ellington.

Yes the referees were horrible but they blow calls every week so you have to expect that. It doesn't change the fact that Clemson dominated Miami in every facet of the game except maybe special teams but even then when you score 42 and only give up 17 it doesn't matter how many fg's you have blocked. Miami only has their QB for one season this was their one chance and they blew it. The season is basically over now. Good game Clemson now go win another National Championship. The U needs better coaching, better execution, discipline to stop stupid penalties. Maybe one of these years they'll have that. I expected this outcome and it was still so damn disappointing.

They said the Miami defensive player was offsides in the 1st quarter when Miami made an interception. They slowed that play down. He was not offsides!!
He lined up offsides. And it was called by the ref as being an incomplete pass, not an interception.
Get your eyes checked and then watch/stop the video at 0:56. Miami's #2 was lined up with his foot on the Clemson side of the black line/line of scrimmage. And that play was ruled NOT an interception.

Would be tough to access in this day and age. We also have more info on players for Miami. Miami’s defense consisted on A class NFL players and HOFers. But the 2019 LSU team plays in a much softer league. I’d bet Hurricanes without a doubt. To many players who can shut down burrow and Brent venables had him keyed in early against a much weaker clemson D.
That Miami team would have knocked out Burrow on his first drive.So it really would be up to the backup to hold on

Definitely 2019 LSU because they are a more present team than the 2001 Canes. Athletes get better every year and there is an 18 year difference in nutrition development, sports science, exercise science... etc

BAD coaching. Perry should have come in and started airing it out in the fourth. He has a stronger arm and is taller, has a better line of sight.
King struggles with the deep throws, and he has timing issues on the mid to long one on one passes. For example that Interception when he was trying to throw to Mallory. All he had to do was arch it over the head of Mallory but instead throws an almost soft line drive. I rather he slightly over throw Mallory or put it up for a jump ball but he didn't. If he would've arched it, it would have been a touchdown. He's an elite quarterback and that pass was not elite. Also that other interception he underthrew, it's like he doesn't know how to arch passes or throw them high and up for grabs to the taller UM receivers or throw to an angle the UM receiver can only reach. Perry can, he would have landed both those throws. How about switching to Perry if you are going to throw those kind of passes. Or put Perry as QB and king as running back but let him throw it to trick the defense or throw it to king if Perry doesn't see anyone open, or have Perry block for king as he runs or vice versa. Perry can run. And I'm upset they didn't bulk up Perry he looks malnourished. I blame the coaches for that, telling Perry you need to bulk up or you won't play, and I do blame Perry for not realizing he need to bulk up the upper body, arms, and legs. Something like that. And No running game? That's just UNACCEPTABLE 😠 and I blame Lashley and Manny for that. What happened to play action plays or throws to the running backs? Screens, blockers, diving for the ball, intercepting Clemson's QB. No anticipation, no ability to step in front of passes, no extra guy tailing the running back? Lashley did a poor job, Manny can't coach, and Blake needs to go coach highschool, start over, or retire. Another thing that upset me is the uptempo was gone. I think it was King trying to read the defense longer. He took too long and the defense read him instead. Uptempo is done to keep defense guessing. If king does up tempo and no receiver is open then he can run it or throw the ball away and tell Lashley that his calls are not working so Lashley calls play action or screens it something else!. Without a running game and just throwing it short any team would beat you! And a few of the sacks really bothered me. Like the one where the Clemson guy rushes from the right. It's 4 on 4 and our guy to the right doesn't even realize Clemson's guy can blitz and instead moves forward to the open field and let's the Clemson guy rushes right at our QB? I want that guy benched! All guys who were lazy and didn't dive for the running backs legs and instead going for the upper body benched! DIVE! Try to trip them if you can't grab them or they are getting away. Lazy! And all the guys who made stupid offside penalties BENCHED! And those referies calling the targeting on the clean hit with the shoulder to the mid section should be banned! And we need bigger guys in the ol to make room for the running backs! Just pathetic and UNACCEPTABLE we get blown out to Clemson again when I know we are much more talented team than the 2017 team. And FIRE BLAKE!
They just need to move clemson into the SEC so they can actually play some competition. They just smash everybody in the ACC. I think they could win it all this year, BAMA is bama and could beat em but idk their defense is suspect, Georgia has an elite defense and of they can run a decent offense they will win the sec and play more than likely the winner of Ohio st and clemson if big 10 hurrys and geta going. Im eager to see how good Ohio st is this year. Last year they were a beast of a team and beat and bruised clemson but the 4th quarter didnt go their way. King had almost no time to set anything into motion. Their defensive line couldn't tackle. That pretty much sums it up. Block better, tackle better, basics of the game.
