As fun and exciting as these events are. As I get older, I’m 54 now, all I see is waste and pollution like crazy. I used to like races and drag races. But becoming more environmentally conscious has tainted my view of these events. It’s insane the waste and pollution of these events. Yes it’s just for a weekend now and then. But it’s really not. These guys work hard on their builds, testing doing trials etc a whole industry is part of racing and racing products focused on more speed and power. And every step higher in that direction is more waste and worse emissions. And the waste and uncaring of the effects of emissions carries over to their regular lives as they can take up anti environmental opinions since reducing emissions will impact their hobbies and businesses. I feel for these people as all this is going to go away or transform as some point and no one wants to see something they love go away or change so they will fight it. And that will slow the world’s transition to a greener clean more sustainable future. Am I a hypocrite maybe. Yes I drive a gas car to work everyday. But it’s a small 1.5l turbo. Do I want a hybrid or fully Electic car yes when they are more affordable. Do I long to drive a big powerful car or truck. Yes, I never have owned a powerful vehicle. Always efficiency was important since I wanted to reduce my spend on gas etc. Maybe one day we can have our weekend gas cars for fun, like owning horses. I
