I was a courier in London in 1984 and was waiting in Charing Cross Road when I saw a book signing outside a bookshop. It was Ken Livingston and the Guardian journalist who helped him with his biography. Somewhere, under all the dust of decades, I have a signed copy. It was... Not a great book. I am of the left and even then he came across as a scheming, unreliable, untrustworthy and treacherous toad. He still does.
The solution to almost every problem is to live within your means. For example I'm living a very frugal life at the moment because I don't have much money.
@@MostlyLoveOfMusic It's actually been a good thing for me, because I used to be overweight but since I started eating a lot more apples and drinking water I've lost quite a bit and I'm almost back to where I should be as far as weight is concerned. Before I was eating expensive food every day.
I was still at school at 15 years of age, in Bromley Kent Listening to The Jam, Yazoo , Soft Cell on the radio, London still seemed like a nice place to visit then Ken got quite in with the pop scene , Billy Bragg, Paul Weller etc in the 80s with Red Wedge. 1982 reminds me of The Falklands and Y.T.S youth schemes.
fascinating. . i was 17 when this was made. now we have the divisive khan in charge. even though i did not agree with livinstones politics.(especially the IRA stance) At least he loved London and tried todo his best.Unlike the current incumbent with his gesture politics
Honestly the crime, the mouldy housing, the unemployment, education still all rubbish if we are honest. The crap roads, cost of living everything so depressing …..
You know those "1980's London" little trip down memory lane videos? "Oh, did you have hair like that?!" "To think, I was listening to that on the radio. Ha! Ha!" Umm, yeah - that's not *this* one, OK.

Funny to hear Trump mentioned as a potential recommendation to Ken Livingstone.
Problems then, problems now, and problems in the future
Everlasting circle isn't it the problems don't ever change the only thing that does is time.

London in 1982 was heaven compared to London in 2023.

London is a horrible place now, it was bad back then but no where near as rotten as it is today.
God is this 1980 or 2023 sounds the same
