  • Sean plays his light weight Continental Chromatic Button Accordion made by Paulo Soprani & Sons at Castel Fidardo (near Ancona, in Northern Italy) circa 1900.
In 1945, it was bought in Paris, France by an American Soldier named Millen for $5.00 USD. His Son Randy gave it to Sean as a gift, in 1992.
This instrument was re-reeded and tuned by Walter Vergini (RIP) in 1996.
Walter "grew-up" at the Soprani factory, and later, moved to Chicago, Illinois.
When Walter worked on this Accordion, he was living in Oxnard, California, and he was working on many "Tex-Mex"
Accordions for "Accordionistas" in the Los Angeles area.

@klrietmann Hi Kevin ! Yes one thing about Free Reeds is they don't go out of tune as badly as Cane Reeds in Our BAAAAAGpipes. The Continental System is "Double Action" like my English Concertina, so I don't have to be concerned about the direction of the Bellows (Pull or Press) the Button is the Note. Glad to see You are going to be the Meister der Welt at any session, even though it's not a B/C or D/D# chromatic like the Irish style Accordion-nists All Best Wishes for Xmas !

Remerci monsieur. Cette accordeon stait dans la system chromatique avec "Ut" en la premier ligne exterior. Autre types chromatiques utilese Si bemol ou Re en la ligne exterior.

I'm a high school student who wants to learn accordion. I play bass and used to play piano. Is the accordion interesting to play? what is it like? Since I am a beginner, is the Fidardo I mentioned a good starting instrument, or should I start with a more student-level accordion? I am interested in both keyboard accordions or squeeze box (concertinas are good, I hear)

+Mosspath297 If the Soprani has 3 Rows of buttons, it is probably a Chromatic system, like the one in this Video. The easiest Accordion with Teachers in your area, would be a (full size keyboard) Piano Accordion, with 120 basses. There are lots of them on Ebay, ask questions from the seller, etc. If You want to Play, go ahead and do it.

Are Fidardo brand accordions good quality? I found a very handsome vintage Fidardo and I want to know if it could be worth it.

+Mosspath297 If it has 2 rows of buttons, it's a "Single Action" Accordion that You have to draw out & push in with the Bellows to get the 2 scales, which are usually a 5th apart: C row on the outside, G row on the inside row, for example.

There's no info on the accordion itself besides "C".
I wish I could send you the link or item number, but Mobile TH-cam does not allow that for me, and woth my phone's bad auto-correctiveness, typing anything would never work XD
Thank you very much for the help!
