Squeeee! That shawl is beyond stunning, and I'm absolutely thrilled and honored (albeit via time machine, because it's like a year later and I just found this) to have made something that made your weekend better. Here I'm all watching, mesmerized by your earrings, and then, "wait. I know that yarn!" Thank you for making room for it in your delightful warren of fabulosities.
Oh, dang, I'd forgotten about that shawl! (I've knit so many socks in the past 5 months, I have almost forgotten about shawls entirely!) But your yarn was such a freaking JOY to work with on it!
I really enjoyed this. I totally get feeling like it's narcissistic but I also think it's really fun to peek into someone else's life, especially someone else whose style and "whole deal" you admire. I have that Valancourt Book of World Horror and am waiting for the semester to end so I can delve in properly. Are you enjoying it? Which stories have you liked so far? Also, I'm curious about the Victorian Cakes book on your table. What is it and what caused you to get it? Thanks for sharing your life! And what a beautiful shawl you made! :)
Thank you for the kind words! And while I haven't gotten very far in the Valancourt book yet, my favorite at this point is Mater Tenebrarum by Pilar Pedraza; it's not a scary story, but it presents the supernatural in a surprisingly amusing way. I really enjoyed it! And the Victorian Cakes book was a gift, a bit of a swap, really--I sent the recipient a handknit shawl, and she reciprocated with this book. And what's lovely about it, is that she hand-embroidered the cloth cover! I am only a chapter or so in, but it's a cozy read, a sort of foody memoir wherein the author recalls her Victorian childhood and shares popular recipes from the 1880s. It's really charming!
I get so excited when I see you have a new video up! Thanks for sharing your day and your hair looks amazing! My library is processing Dark Archives and I am on the reserve list for it, so I should get it any day now. I'm so excited!
I like how you went at that soup in order to make it more savory than sweet. The lime is a great touch. I feel like I would like to start adapting early mornings to my routine for the benefit of uninterrupted time, but I have the hardest time peeling myself out of a warm bed. I admire that you can do so!
The lime really does make a huge difference, just a lovely hit of acidity and brightness to that earthy, roasted squash and those warm, complex spices! And that's so true...I remember living up north and how difficult it was to leave the warm cocoon of blankets in the morning. Save the early routine for the spring!
Your hair is adorable! How did I not know that you are a lefty? It's so nice to listen to you talk and tell us about your day. You remind me soo much of your mom. Love and miss you!
Awwww! Your sweet comment made me a little weepy! I miss you guys, too. When the world is normal again, the sisters and I are definitely going to need to do another midwest trip
I've been meaning to keep a dream journal again for some time now. After watching you do it I immediately ordered a new journal 🌖 thanks for the reminder! And the shawl turned out so lovely :)
I’m originally from Brazil, but have been living in Scotland for a while now and, as much as I adore all the magic and mystique of Scotland, I have to say I miss being able to do picnics like this. Is almost always raining here, making it impossible to go for a stroll or a picnic (as I write this the sun started to shine right outside my window, as a way to call me a liar).
In my heart, I am convinced that I would love to live in a place of endless glooms and grey, rainy days, but I sure would miss picnics! Sending some bright sunny day magics your way!
Thank you so much for including me in your day
You are very welcome! And as it happens, I was doubly thinking of you, because I just ordered some more soaps this past week :)
