Gothic Gift Guide Disguised as a Haul 🖤 | Victorian Treasures & Dark Delights
🖤 Hello friends! I'm excited to share some recent treasures with you today - a collection of finds that speak to the shadows, to ancient wisdom, and to life's deeper mysteries. From ceremonial beauty created with powerful natural elements, to tools for exploring the misunderstood stories of dark goddesses, to Victorian curiosities that whisper of times past - every piece here has been chosen with intention and carries its own fascinating story. These selections weave together beauty, death, divination, and forgotten histories. And while this video began as a simple "look at my stuff!" share, I realize that with the holidays lurking just around the corner, perhaps you'll find some gift inspiration here for the darkly inclined souls in your life. Let me show you what called to me...

🗝Hello friends! This past July, I’ve been taking a break from social media, and I thought I might share some peeks at what I did with myself throughout the month, little vignettes here and there when I otherwise might have been wasting time doom-scrolling or falling down useless rabbit holes. Every time I felt tempted to log on, I’d do something else - anything else! - instead, and this video i...

September Magics: Manifesting Autumn

Hello friends. I don't know what it's like where you're at, but in Florida, autumn really seems to dither and dilly-dally and lollygag and all those funny old-fashioned words that mean something's taking too effing long! Hehehehehe, tbh most of the time I just look like Madame Mim disney.fandom.com/wiki/Madam_Mim?file=Madam_Mim.jpg But for being on the camera, all I do is take a big barreled curling iron, curl every other section one way/the other, and then flip my head upside down and give everything a good shake. My hair tends to be pretty heavy at the ends, and so within the hour, all volume from my roots is gone, so I continuously have to give it a vigorous tousle!

    Hi Sarah Elizabeth. I just discovered your TH-cam channel and watched this video. Although, it is 3 years old, I had to let you know I felt a kindred spirit in you and after you shared your story about living in New Jersey I knew why. I had a very similiar chapter in my life when I lived in Vermont for 9 years. Long story but I lived in Florida (and now live in Florida currently) and when I moved to Vermont my social life when to a screaching hault also the transition of living in Florida to a true seasonal mountain-ness environment was jarring that took years to get use too. Somehow, I found myself like you finally happy in a way I had FINALLY time to be alone and get to know myself. Not live in a home that was always chaotic. But, after a while it was not a good thing. Like you, I feel I am pretty good company (it's amazing how alot of people can be alone with themselves) but I end up getting in my head too much. Not getting out in the world becomes more difficult because it becomes bigger than you quickly! I lived in Vermont for 9 years and managed to not have any friends outside coworkers and work. I got to explore some beautiful and spectacular places though. To be honest when 2020 happened I felt like my life had already been like a lockdown and isolating style but it became next level when I no longer had at least work as a "social outlet" or places were closed and couldn't explore as much. Fastforward to moving back to Florida. To be honest after moving back here it still has been difficult to get myself out there again after spending all those years in my own company. It's so much more difficult to navigate making new friends when your older. All the friends I had back here, things change, they all have kids or realized we grew apart, my one really close friends unfortunetly lives in South Florida and I live in the very north part of Florida so we don't get to visit. This time I do want to try to become more social. This is a long story to tell you that it's comforting to know someone like you experienced a very similiar chapter in your life and also has very similiar personality traits. You explained everything I also feel in that segment of the video so eloquently. Alot of people don't get it!

    • @MlleGhoul
      @MlleGhoul 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, hello kindred spirit! I am so glad you found me here (and I think it's very cool that somehow people stumble on things like this even if it has been something like three years!) I don't even remember exactly what I said or what I was talking about in this video (although weirdly enough, I can still FEEL it!) but I am glad it resonated. <3

  • @Lil_Deville

    OK, I know this is two years old and so commenting is probably a bit weird but Warwick is pronounced Warrick, just wanted to get that out there 😔(also sorry but I'm going to do it again Ossian is Oh-shahn - it's Welsh).

    • @MlleGhoul
      @MlleGhoul 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nothing like getting all excited to see that someone commented on your video only to find out it's someone correcting your ignorance and making you feel like a moron🤣 Just kidding, I know it was well intended. Thank you. I still feel like a moron.

    • @MlleGhoul
      @MlleGhoul 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ok, now that I am actually looking at the post you're commenting on and seeing the Warwick you're referring to (I honestly did not remember a single thing I talked about in this video) I don't feel like as much as an idiot as I did at first. I am not local to the area or even to the country, there's probably no way I would have known I was pronouncing it incorrectly t unless I had heard it first! Which I hadn't, I'd only seen in in a fleeting scene of someone's tee shirt on a show. Anyway! Thank you for watching my video and offering a kindness to future-me, so that I will know how to correctly say it, if I ever have need to say it again.

    • @Lil_Deville
      @Lil_Deville 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MlleGhoul Oh I absolutely understand, if you haven't heard something said out loud before than there's no way you're gonna know how it's said. But should you ever find yourself in Warwick (it's a lovely place and the castle is impressive) then you'll know how to say it. I didn't mean any offence at all. I'm an idiot anyway as it turns out that originally Ossian was Irish, I've only heard it as a Welsh name before 🤷‍♀

    So happy for another peek into your life. Your comments at the very end so resonate with me, and especially those two questions you asked yourself. I think your insights about feeling crappy while on social media are important and good ones to be mindful of. Thanks for sharing this with us!

      @MlleGhoul 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, I don't think the crappiness was as apparent as it is, now, that I am really paying attention to it. And so I am asking myself... if I am using this crappy experience as a means of escape, how much MORE crappy are the feelings that I am avoiding feeling when I am feeling compelled to escape like this?? So I really need to do some digging, I think....!

    I love your work so much. Thank you for making this video. I identify with several important things in here: 1. Having lots of tarot decks but even after 30+ years of collecting them, still feeling like I don't know much of anything at all about tarot. 2. Shout out to Angeliska! I had my one and only professional reading done by them and they are incredibly insightful and helpful! 3. Love seeing your favorite decks and seeing how you view parts of yourself in them. As for my favorite decks... one that I got last year and I am still discovering and figuring out is the Beatles Tarot deck by Welkin Tarot (on Etsy). My love of the band goes far beyond just "liking their music" and is something deeply rooted in my love of story (English Prof. here). I just love that someone who so wholeheartedly loves The Beatles and did tons of research when creating the deck is responsible for this niche tarot deck. I reach out in friendship to your vulnerable sharing --please just know that you and your wonderful art books have made such a difference in my world. Thank you so much for sharing. Every Autumn, I get a bag of the same Brachs Candy Corn mix, a can of roasted salted peanuts and a bag of peanut butter M&Ms and they all get mixed together in an amber candy dish that’s shaped liked an acorn and has a squirrel for a handle. This is probably my most consistent autumn ritual.

    Aaah, that was so fun to see in your home and hear how you've been doing. I'm super excited about the newest book. It will complete my collection. I loved your "Art of Fantasy Lewk" with the Brett Manning dress, insect cardigan and pretty necklace. I really enjoyed this peek into your world. Thank you for sharing it. I also noticed that you have the "Moon List Guided Journal" from the little corner of it in the video. I have it too. I got it for Christmas last year and have been doing it. It's a fun way to journal and keep track of things. What have you thought of it? I also do a daily journal, so writing a journal is a habit I've had since I was a kid.

      I think when I first got started, I was very influenced by people who took the time to put together pacing and scripting and beautiful cinematography, but I eventually realized that for myself, personally, while those are nice to watch, I never get a sense of connecting with those people. And that's why I made this space to begin with, to connect with other weirdos! So I guess I'm coming to terms with letting go of those ideals and actually being pretty okay with it. And it's encouragement like this that definitely helps :)

    So I finally had the opportunity to watch this in its entirety, and I loved everything about it, and I have so many things to say! #1 Oh how I lurve a good haul #2 I cannot WAIT to see your home; you have done such a great job of nesting! #3 While I respect the heck out of you for shedding the 'Zon, I shall continue to shop on there. At the end of the day, I recognize that it saves me time and money and I don't have enough spoons day to day to drive about looking in vain for the things I want, and yes, I am a cog in the capitalist machine but I am not responsible for the existence of it, and I have to exist in the dumbest timeline like everyone else. #4 I recognize I sound defensive but would I be your baby sister if I didn't? #5 I love how you showed yourself using some of the goodies you bought! #6 Did I see your air conditioning unit is actually kind of set a little ways back from your house? If so, that is awesome! #6 I love that you got fake plants! This makes me feel a little bit less like a failure of a human being, I don't know why. Maybe it's because even my wildly competent and eldest sister will do a fake plant? Please message me a link to those plants, if you are still comfortable with enabling others' usage of Amazon. I need to get that Hilma af Klint biography. I’ve managed to collect all the volumes of the Catalogue Raisonne set over the last couple of years and they’re gorgeous. Other than that, I’ve reluctantly kept Amazon around mostly just for soy curls, Mad Hippie vitamin c serum and double packs of Everyone unscented lotion which I can’t seem to live without.

    • @MlleGhoul
      @MlleGhoul ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, soycurls, that's another thing that we get a lot of, too! Except now we're sort of down to the disentegrated bits and crumbs which I don't really have a use for, except there's A LOT of them, and I feel so wasteful just throwing them away!

    Just this weekend I went through my giant pile of bookmarks and bought all the stuff I've been eyeing forever and still liked (and deleted the rest). Nothing major, just stuff like prints from artists I like. There were bookmarks from 2014 in there!, it was a gigantic pile of longing and "but no you shouldn't", and I'm so happy I finally got it all sorted. So I'm very on board with the vibe of your video 😅. Maybe it's a UK thing, but in the past few years Amazon actually became less convenient for most of my recurring purchases (they don't have my tea, my cat food, and most other specific things I need). And for last-minute household emergencies I'm a 15min walk away from a well-stocked hardware store that does same-day pick-up---if I was living somewhere more remote, cutting out Amazon and its fast delivery would have been MUCH more difficult, but as it is it kinda just happened on its own. And I'm super happy that bookshop dot org started operating in UK and has a website I don't hate using---same level of convenience for books as Amazon was. Anyway, I think you asked for opinions so there you have it 😃. (Your voice is very calming and was nice to listen to while having dinner.)
