Pan Pacific Auditorium should've been a quite unique theater for entertainment in the Fairfax district and another redevelopment plan was used in the farmer's market which would contain a 2 story mall with JW Robinson, May Co and Nordstorm built on Gilmore Park. It would've been built around the existing Farmer's Market and CBS Television City. The pan Pacific Auditorium wanted a small park and a streamline moderne shopping center containing a bowling alley , skating rink and a department store. The first plan was to demolisshed the beloved farmers market and television studio with an outdoor indoor lifestyle shopping center before the grove was planned in 1998. Rip Pan Pacific Auditorium 1935 - 1989
To give you an idea how successful this redevelopment was, the site is now Pan Pacific Park, the auditorium having burned down in '89... Ah well, it'll forever be immortalized in one stinker of a movie.
California also taxes it's residents to the point of them leaving and is one of the largest distribution hubs of illegal meth, fentanyl and guns. Look at both sides of the story before you talk smack. GDP my ass. 🙄🙄
Oh, yea. Xanadu was filmed here! I dig that movie and the building!
This got me wondering if the fire that burned the building down was arson.

I love this building
1930's architecture is beyond cool
The Sun is like Boards of Canada... Tomorrow Harvest intention... the fire is the apocalypsis since then, on his tomorrow future... RIP PanPacific
The idea for a park was beyond stupid.. I hope who ever thought that up who ever burnt the building down is burning in hell.
We sure built something from this land out of nothing. An amazing feat if you ask me.
I'd vote for option #1. Two problems, I don't live in LA (nor California for that matter) and it burned down in 1989.

it burning down it has nothing to do with how successful it was
I remember seeing that dumpy building in the Barnes & Barnes music video for the song "Fish Heads".
Whaddya mean, "one stinker of a movie"?--Oh, right, it was in "Funny Lady" as WELL as Xanadu!
I did my thesis on the Pan Pacific auditoriums demise.
@@larkatmic What was your GPA?
I graduated Suma Cum Laude in Computer Science.
Xanadu.
California is the largest driver of the nations economy. Proud to now be a hard working resident. Surpass our states GDP before you talk smack.
