Big smile, even a tear for the memories this song brings! I was 17 yrs old and loved this song, but the best memory was my Momma bouncing through the living room, bobbing her head to this. Just out of the blue, she gets jiggy with it. We went to Hawaii that year to visit my Brother serving in the Navy. Every time Mom heard this song, she would do a little twist or bebop. I lost her 19 yrs ago last month. Thank you for sharing this today, as it turns out, it's a remembrance of the loss of my Dad, 39 yrs ago. This kinda gave me a hug. Thanks again.
1979 was a freshman in highschool..the world was fun and full of sunshine back then ...glad I was there to experience it and this song was part of it 😏
@@mikeysuzefour ... Thank you for your kind words. We are all here for a mere short time and those closest to our hearts make the time everlasting, especially in memory.
One of my all time favorite tunes. Played it often in my room as a teen in the nineties to escape the mortifying eurodancepoptevhboelecteo. Her angelic voice and of course Donna Summers and Chaka Khans and of course Whitneys helped me survive the nineties. Also Royce's sweet and delicious ✨🎶 wishing upon a star🎶✨🪶discodelights. Thanks for quoting Gloria Gaynors quote: disco changed its name to protect the innocent. Yeah these disco classics struggle songs or struggle transmutation songs to keep your vibration high regardless and conquer with love for liberation are deep as the ocean. I can't help but tear up when hearing soup for one cuts so deep. Eternal classics and forever nightingales burning with the love. God bless them for sharing their incredible energy and wisdom with us. They knew us before we knew us in the future
Awesome disco track! I loved it in that scene from the "Waterboy" where the Fonz called his grandma while wearing high heels 👠 to tell her he didn't get the head coach job. lol.
I always remember this song back in 1979, I was in Texas, and it was constantly being played. It seemed like back then, many versions filled the airwaves on the AM&FM bands. In concluding, I can say this was played over seas, primarily, as a result of the love of American music. I can't even fathom the amount of sales this single made here at home and abroad. Anita Ward left all of us a, classic.
Exactly 40 years ago on the radio, former Substitute Teacher, Anita Ward wanted to have someone 'Ring My Bell'. It hit #1 and finished at #7 for the year 1979. Also, it ranks #37 for the biggest singles of the 1970's decade 🔔💜🔔!
Just love this song y I used to play it all the time it was a great party song and you didn't have to see her to want to get with her her voice was great look at that smile on the album cover
Thanks! Years ago I was listening to the disco radio station in Montreal and he added just one bell on the fours for the choruses, but I thought why not add more for the chords?
When I hear this song I remember my sister dancing to rock (it was the dance at the time) her n this guy was dancing at Thanksgiving it was beautiful the way they where going at it

@DJDiscoCatV2 oh you jacked this up so perfectly The B side we never knew we needed back in 1981!!! This a a bit of strobe --> epilepsy on the the Dance Floor
It took me a while figuring out how to remix it without killing the original vibe...thus the tubular bells and the slight change in the beat...hope you like!
4 years to complete this remix ... what a project, art needs perseverance sometimes. "inspirantion is like lightning, it strikes randomly, but with power."
Exactly. It’s comforting to know that mom and dad were just as “driven” as you and me today. It provides a connection to our past. They had the same thoughts and desires we have today.
I had the 45 when it came out and played it a lot. Wow, that bell sound surprised me. Think a little would go a long way and it's a bit overused. But all in all, decent mix.
Since the first purrfection version, I was thinking about a song that I like and deserves such honor... you've found it: Ring my bell. Pretty good job! Can you do the same job with Satin soul?
Thank you so much for answering my comment. Wow, four years in order to give away a long lasting song! I was unconscious about such amount of time, excuse me and forget about my request. In the other hand, it makes pretty valuable the present you share with us. I will follow you....
I do like DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince's cover song on Ring My Bell as well. I do like Anita Ward's original song too. I wish someone could have ring Anita Ward's bell and told her I have a follow-up song too. It didn't happen at all. She's a one hit wonder for sure!

My favorite roller skating song we'd roller boogie to this
Awesome disco track! I loved it in that scene from the "Waterboy" where the Fonz called his grandma while wearing high heels 👠 to tell her he didn't get the head coach job. lol.

The song was released in 1978 and was still on the charts in 1979,
Not going to lie, the bells were an unexpected touch I didn't know the song needed.

I first heard this in a club in Germany. This song is a international hit and still rings today. I wished that your version of this was played then.
When I hear this song I remember my sister dancing to rock (it was the dance at the time) her n this guy was dancing at Thanksgiving it was beautiful the way they where going at it
Mr. DJ you did your thing! It's definitely on my rotation...
WABC 77 AM in New York! Flagship tune of the summer of '79, and oh how people hated it while we danced to it :D

Honestly, I never really saw any difference between "disco" and "club" and "house." They were all just songs that were good for dancing.
