Great analysis of the meta. It unfortunately further highlights how a budget- constructed, casual player like me has no business competing in a store showdown. My only answer to control is a kamikaze aggro that just goes to the base and tries to dodge removal enough to get to 25 or 30 points of damage before super laser and Avengers hit the table. Still, no Mace promos in my future. Can’t wait for your next gameplay matches!

I understand the concern as someone who is wary of hard control decks. Fortunately, the best budget deck in the format is also one of the best decks currently in the meta, so if you are looking to compete, you have options available to you! Thanks for watching!

@@RollOnGaming Totally agree there are options, Sabine being the most obvious of course. But I am stubbornly going to play with my Jyn Showcase, so I’m pairing with red (despite not having and Aggressions) and seeing how fast I can get her to go. No unit/card higher than a 6 cost. Like Jyn, I will likely get wiped out on that beach but… what the heck!

Leia is also great to spam rebels for budget decks.

Budget constructed, yet you have a showcase?? Sell your showcase for better cards then? You can definitely have business competing in a store showdown bro - don't limit yourself.

I played against two of those Iden decks at the 5k. One was a bit more midrange / aggro and the other was full control. Sideboard Relentless shut down the control variant pretty well.

Love the idea of Relentless! Thanks for the tip!

I dont necessarily agree with the sentiment that those vader decks lose to aggro that badly. If they have the initiative they can drop a 3 power t1 unit to stop ground damage or they just take it so they can stuff the t1 play with power/ open fire and that alone slows the clock off aggro a ton. And the vader list has many ways to immediately stuff a sabine leader as well with choke and take down. You basiclly need a turn 4 with a double unit and leader flip to get the momentum to actually try and make up for the lack of t2 and 3 damage

It's a fair point! Vader definitely has some play into aggro, but with a surplus of events, if you're not careful you can find yourself on the back foot and unable to get the 1-for-1 removal that the deck thrives on. Not impossible though! Thanks for watching!

I feel like you guys are def missing the value of capture. At the very least, it’s a remove all upgrades on the target, which should be good since this set has been referred to as the “upgrade” set. It also locks down that unit, and forces the opponent to waste a turn and a resource using a card that rescues their unit, or allows you to control who they are attacking if they want that unit back. Then, when they do rescue, that card comes back exhausted. That ability sounds pretty powerful to me

All fair points! It's tough to evaluate so early on without seeing just how deep the rabbit hole goes on Capture, but with the ability for your opponent to get the unit back (and potentially trigger additional When Played abilities), it doesn't excite me as much as just removing the unit entirely. But definitely looking forward to seeing how much more support the mechanic receives! Thanks for watching!
