Robin Hoods Cave and Movie Locations at Stanage Edge

The Peak District is full of iconic locations and Stanage Edge adds to those. Stanage Edge is the longest edge in the Peak District and is home to Robin Hood's Cave and the famous cliff edge that Keira Knightly stood on in Pride and Prejudice. I tracked both down, even recreating the infamous screen on what is an easy peak district walk.

Hi mate, I know this area extremely well. Glad you found the cave.
The gritstone millstones you will find all over the PD, padley gorge, burbage, curbar edge, Beeley moor areas.
Don’t quote me, as I’m not 100% sure (maybe 95% 😊) but these would have been quarried & left there unfinished or untransported out due to increased competition & more demand (for finer white flour) from other ‘stronger’ & ‘cleaner’ stone in early 18th century.
They were simply left there 😢

Those views were spectacular. I've never seen that Pride and Prejudice movie or any Pride and Prejudice movie (or book) for that matter.....Not for lack of trying on my wife's part though. 🤣😂 The recreation was spectacular though.....
