Gmunden (German: [ˈɡmʊndn̩] (listen)) is a town in Upper Austria, Austria in the district of Gmunden. It has 13,204 inhabitants (estimates 2016 [3]). It is much frequented as a health and summer resort, and has a variety of lake, brine, vegetable and pine-cone baths, a hydropathic establishment, inhalation chambers, whey cure, etc. It is also an important centre of the salt industry in Salzkammergut.
Gmunden je okresní město ležící na severním břehu Traunsee v rakouském Salzkammergutu. Je sídelním městem okresní vlády stejnojmenného okresu, okresního hejtmanství a okresního soudu. Žije zde přibližně 13 tisíc[1] obyvatel.
Město je známé svou keramikou s charakteristickým bílozeleně plamencovaným dekorem. Za c. a k. monarchie bylo město Gmunden známé jako renomované letní sídlo, o čemž dodnes svědčí množství vil. Město se také veřejně připomnělo v 90. letech 20. století v rakouském televizním seriálu Schlosshotel Orth.
