It wasn't that long ago that Mantz won the NCAA cross country meet. That's incredible to run that fast that long. I'd love to see our boys take gold and another medal. These guys show you don't have to have mounds of muscles to be great athletes.
I will root for the Americans in the Olympics and a 2:09 is flying. At my best I would have struggled running 5k at these guys pace, but the reality is that a 2:09 is probably going to be a full minute off a medal. Again I hope I am wrong, and I will be pulling hard for all 3 American men, but my expectations are not up there with this team.
2:07 is mantzs best time and that was in Chicago. Here’s got almost a year of training from then til Paris to get down to a 2:05-2:06 range which will put him in contention
@@princeleon7846 Lactate threshold pace is only about 10 seconds per mile slower than 10k pace (the pace you run in a 10-mile race). Anyone at their threshold would crash and burn in a marathon LONG before the halfway point.
Nice run, they didn't reach the tough Olynpic requirement to direct qualify at 2 hours 8 minutes and 10 ssconds, but I think they either have made a narathon within this time limit the last year or they should absolutely be qualified by the Olympic rankinglists. I'm wishing lots of good luck at the Olympic racing day😊
They paced behind panning for 20 miles! Zach panning did all of the work and bonked with 10K to go. Yeah they both won but without pacing so close to Zach they would have needed help. I am calling it now they both don’t medal
You cant beat these Africans they are on a different level Kenya and Ethiopia white Guys cant run at their pace KIPRUTO, KIPCHOGE, TOLA, KIPLIMO, BEKELE they have a different Physiology.
@haydenwittig8877 Guessing you’re relatively new to the party. Africa is a big continent with lots of people and has a history of great athletes. Sometimes, they are dominant. Other times not as much.

Seeing Korir’s reaction as he crossed the line… tears in my eyes… that moment is why I love running.
Man, feel bad for Zach Panning. He set such a great pace but couldnt maintain. Every marathoner knows how hard it gets after the 20 mile mark.
Spoiler alert!

I ran for Grand Valley State so it’s amazing to see Panning leading this race for so long. Incredible run. He’ll be back.

Clayton looked like he could’ve keep going for another hour! He didnt seem tired at all. Incredible!
Mantz. Good luck in the 2024 Olympics. You are my favorite to win the gold. I hope you do,
Gold? what in the
He's my favorite too.
Love it! Thanks for sharing
Wow, Zach!!!! You got this next time, cheering you from Fort Wayne
Love how the video is English but the comment section is full of different languages
Ya, why it’s the US trials? Like it is only Americans why do they care about the American trials?

All Kenya runs 2:02 lol … good luck beating them

Not at the Olympics.
Iv only done a half marathon , & I’m an ameture , i couldn’t walk for a week after. I have so much respect for these athletes
Zachary Manning, did pretty well all the work, a brave attempt to ensure he’d be on the team
It's very interesting. It's really good
You gotta wonder what Young was on.
He didn't seem to be fatigued at all.
If you look at his Strava data, about the first 10 miles of the race he wasn't even in lactate threshold zone. That alone is so wild to me

Galen Rupp is wear black socks and shoes ? Interesting..
Zack did the work. if the two winners had to lead that much they wouldn't have the same finish.
Doubt that. Those two were clearly the best in the field coming in.
