I'm 69 in 4 days... the speed at which the years go increase between 30 and 60. 26 is still a boy, you can still improve your musicianship and the world is your Lobster ( if you know , you know)

Depends on the jurisdiction though if genders were reversed it would be nothing to laugh and joke about regardless of legality

Power & control. She used it against a young boy for her own perverted needs. This is a serious crime in the United States, and she would be behind bars after being prosecuted. Fifteen year old boys do not possess the capacity to understand those dynamics, and are utterly vulnerable. This was predatory pedophilia. This may well affect you in ways you have yet to understand, but I promise you that when you’re a father, you will see her wickedness for what it was…because you will fiercely protect your own children.

I’m 35 at the moment. When I was 19 I got into a relationship with a woman 17 years older than me. We were “together” for 3 years , I have fond memories and she holds a special place in my life story, but she also broke me emotionally, and I would not recommend a young guy (or girl) to get long term involved as I did with someone with that age gap.
    Great video.

People think it is funny (and it could be in other, more casual circumstances), but anyone too young involved in a serious relationship with a large age gap is likely to encounter an unhealthy power dynamic.

Dear James, Thank you very much for your video.
I greatly appreciate your perspective on the matter, and I must say that I agree with many of your points. In addition, I would like to add my own opinion on the importance of engaging in sports for health. As the saying goes in Russia, "a healthy body leads to a healthy mind." However, what I found particularly valuable was your conclusion. Having watched numerous videos on this topic, I have encountered this conclusion only in your video. It is indeed a valuable perspective.
    Best regards, Ivan.

Thanks for talking about your relationship. Young people may be unable to judge if a relationship is harmful because they lack the experience to judge relationships.

I have done a lot of things in my teen years that I am definitely NOT proud of but I think it kind of helped make me the person I am today. As teens at the time, no matter what era you grew up in as a teen, we were all desperately trying to find our places in the world. I used everything I did as learning experiences. We get to know what works for us and what doesn’t work. We can’t live in the past either. One important lesson that I learned is that no matter what, I cannot please everyone, it’s virtually IMPOSSIBLE. Don’t change for anyone at your own expense. As someone nearing 50, everything will always be a learning experience. Keep growing and keep learning something new every day.

Thank you for this very important video. Younger people, we all need you! We need your energy, enthusiasm, hope, in-person interaction, and compassion! Then, carry that positivity through your whole life, not letting difficulties wear you down, or turn you negative, and/or jaded. Life is super-hard in the teens and 20's but it *will* get better as long as you stay on the course of getting a little better each day and repeating those routines of work/school. Blessings be.

These are good pieces of advice. I wish I did many of these when I was about 18 (the affair part was not something I went through, but there were relationships I should not have been in). I had my driver's license when I was 17.

To also keep up the great work truly enjoy your channel good info I gave it to both my boys your channel.

I can relate to your story about the isolation. I was the same in high school. Always in my own world. Thought i would bevome more social in university but covid ruined it for me. Still I have a goal to get out of my hometown and go to bigger city. There is just much more opportunities there.

  • @scottg2946

Another excellent one! I like all of your videos, but these kinds are much more of a public service, and they're so thoughtful and well prepared. As a now 60 year old, I can relate to much of this. I was in a toxic relationship with someone ten years older when I was 24 (luckily for only a year), and that to this day is my biggest regret. I think your point about moving out of your hometown and settling in a big city is one of the most fundamental pieces of advice any young person can internalize. You're absolutely right; being around high achieving and diverse groups of people absolutely rubs off, and this is one of the ways you become a more interesting person yourself! Fabulous work, James!

Gee, you really give a lot of personal information out about yourself, which i should think, makes you feel rather vulnerable. But that just goes to prove the old adages about a real man having nothing he feels he has to prove or hide. So kudos - I certainly couldn't do it. (I, like bloerista in the comments, am also old enough to be your Grandma, so we know what we're talking about. So much of what you talk about, I've discussed at length with my sons and male live-in foreign students.)

    Gentz:
24 right now, moved back into my hometown after college to save up and acquire a business before I turn 30. My father is also quite old and has not much time in the world (He is 87 and yes big age difference). One of the biggest decisions I've made to save and spend more time with him and be able to be in a position to take care of my mother when he passes. Currently growing my career and hitting the gym nonstop.
Very humbling experience because I've always wanted my own place. I figured when I get older that I would regret not spending more time with my father.
