  • Most expensive and luxurious 2022 Tundra model - the Capstone - just debuted today. But what exactly is the difference between this new model and the current flagship model, the 1794? They appear to be similar, but Automotive Engineer David Chao points out no less than 15 differences between the Tundra 1794 and the Tundra Capstone. After watching the video, you can decide whether the extra cost of the Capstone is worth its money.

David, My understanding is that unlike the 1794, the Capstone does not require Cowboy clothing to be worn by the driver. Owners will also be able to tune the satellite radio away from
    Country and Western stations. ;-)

The Capstone doesn't look premium enough, compared with the 1794 and especially compared with the updated Silverado High Country and Sierra Denali, as well as the top-tier Ram 1500 and F-150. Toyota could have done a lot more to spiff up this trim level's interior trim. Quilted leather anyone? More wood accents? Or maybe Toyota could have made tow hooks standard on this luxury trim. Jk 😅

@@ytsux9259 SR is cheapest. SR5 reminds me of Ford XL but yes I'll take a looked at limited when it comes in.

Seems like you only get a lot of highlights compared to the 1794 and no real upgrades that would warrant a price change.

I have no need for a pickup truck and I live in LA where even thoo there is a lot and we have people who love those things but it’s LA so we have everything so it’s not like some places where pickups are life lol but for some reason I just been wanting one so much. I have 3 kids so it’s not my best option because a big SUV would be better but the pick up would still work for me but I just can’t. Maybe once I can afford to have a second car and I mean like a sound nice car because I wouldn’t want to get an old pickup truck or any old car I feel like they might have to many problems and then I would just not be able to deal with it. ✌️

In my opinion! Capstone is more luxery and city driving. 1794 are both for luxery and off roading. 🤔

Capstone seems to have better leather seats also.

Nothing compelling enough to justify the trim. Just some slight variances (mostly just "standard" optional equipment"). Not worth anything extra over the 1794 in my book.

Or at least 4wd Auto, they aren't going to win over owners from any other brands where even their mid grade models have 4wd auto and people have come to expect it.

Too much expectation from 2022 Tundra and Toyota didn't deliver. MPG, as well as remote starter.

White interior in a truck? Should have options for interior colors. Definitely not white.

This new generation of Tundra in my eyes is a big fail. I was looking forward to the new Tundra, being a 2007 Crewmax owner I am totally disappointed in this new one. It's not half the real truck mine is. There are people with more money than sense that will follow the look at me, look at me crowd and buy it only to regret it a few years later.. I hope they don't commit this brutal assault on the new Sequoia. I've said it before, you can dress a pig up but at the end of the day it's still a pig. Can't help as a long time Tundra owner feeling betrayed by Toyota. I hate to say it but I'll be looking at Nissan or other brands. I had wanted to get the Land Cruiser but Toyota took that option away also.

The first 3 minutes is just saying what you are going to say, and then repeating again and again on what you are going to say, so pretty much waste of time. May I suggest next time you get to the point right away please. unless you have to have it more than 10 minutes so you can make more money on TH-cam.
