Interesting you are having piling issues, reminds me I bought a valiant with a 340 when I was 18yo and the story was the motor was the last spare from a dirt track car. I believe the front sump oil pan led to oil starvation? The guy said the car was fast but couldn’t keep the bearing in them.

Yea some people have good luck, I have not lol. Apparently magnums don’t have as many issues
As far as the suction side goes that’s a non issue for you anyway due to the fact that you pull off the pump cover instead of the factory location.
