I never even considered a press for my leather work... I'm self taught so maybe that's common? Idk.
I'm nocturnal and I'm always afraid to hammer and bang loudly at night... I'm going to go buy a cheap press and try it out!

Wenn du immermal so dicken Stahl schneiden willst, empfehle ich ein Brennschneidgerät.
Für wenige Mal im Jahr lohnt sich das aber ne.
So ein paar Draufhaumuttern muss ich mir auch wieder bestellen, die sind einfach praktisch.

Don't think that grub screw in the pinion will get you to 1 tonne
And let's not forget that both the rack and the gear are from aluminimum...
The set screw will give before the Al becomes an issue. Also, having seen serious welding, these welds don't look promising either. It's a feel-good project, for display and showing off.
No one's gonna mention it's welded?
Oh, well he's just using it to press stuff into leather, so it's fine. Lol.

Inspirational and horrifying at the same time. Inspiring because of the adaption of available materials. Horrifying because a forged steel C-clamp of that size around here goes for about double what a new Asian 1 ton arbor press costs....

Set screw for a press pinion! Lol🤪. All that material for such a light duty press (probably less than 100kg capacity)

I know for you it’s about the process and the finish. But for the duty of your application, you could have welded that c clamp to a plate and used the existing crank, with an extended shaft. Maybe you needed the travel?
What is the metal you made the gear with?

Cooles Projekt. Mann, was du alles in deiner Werkstatt rumfliegen hast, ich hab so ne C-Klemme in der Dimension noch nie gesehen.
Aber einen Tadel muss ich aussprechen. Es ist Adventszeit und du hast eine der wichtigsten Anwendungen vergessen zu demonstrieren: Wie sieht es mit Nüsse knacken aus? Ich hoffe dazu kommt zumindest noch ein Instagram-Video. :)

Schönes Projekt, aber ich glaube nicht, dass die M5 Madenschraube im Ritzel einer Kraft von 1 Tonne aushält... das erscheint mir schon etwas utopisch!

Красиво, но очень непрочно. В итоге самое слабое звено - это штифт-винтик, соединяющий шестерню и вал. Чуть нажать и его срежет
Скорее в алюминии (из которого и сделано все на рутере из прямошлифовальной) стальную шпонку эту провернет :)
@@SergeiPetrov попробовал прикинуть на пальцах порядок нагрузки: болтик на вид не крупнее М6. Диаметр стального вала не более 20 мм. Длина ручки 40 см. Значит рычаг примерно 40 раз. Допустим , этот татуированный бородач давит на рычаг с силой 20 кг. Умножаем на 40. Получаем 800 кг на срез на болтике М6 . По справочнику это около предельной нагрузки для М6.. Зависит от класса прочности. А может и алюмишка сомнется в точке крепления болтика.
Конечно, 20 кг для такой фигни из кожи, которую он давит-это слишком много, но тогда вопрос - а нафига такие железяки использовать для кронштейна и подставки? Сделал бы из фанеры ;))))

Habe ein bisschen Sorge um die Madenschraube, die als Kraftübertragung dient. Hätte dafür wahrscheinlich eher die klassiche Lösung mit Passfeder gewählt, aber es scheint ja zu halten. Gruß
