    I'm from a banana producing country so I know all the scary shizz that goes into the bananas, despite what the documentary says. Also banana plantation workers aren't the most fairly treated workers in the world, regardless of what the companies say. Also, the Cavendish banana, which is what is typically grown for export, has a far inferior taste compared to other local banana varieties.

    • @rext8949
      @rext8949 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That's a fact, but far more pertinent is that Cavendish travels well.

      @AlexTamayo. 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Parents_of_Twins that's not true. People can get good treatment without unions. Unions are actually counter productive to most people and they usually end up becoming cartels in favour of their members and curtail competition. Unions do not do what they claim to do.

    When I was a mere lad, bananas were shipped and sold off the stalk. In the early 1950s polio was epidemic and no one knew what caused it. Several children had eaten bananas just before they got polio. It was thought that an insect or spider was hidden in the bananas and had bitten the children. Here in the US there was some time that we couldn't get bananas until the fruit companies could break the bananas down and wash them to remove any insect or spider.

    "The next stage is to separate the platinum from the other metals, and that's done with this powder".
    I'm gonna assume it is cocaine, that is what justifies the price of platinum.

    • @SPFLDAngler
      @SPFLDAngler 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The rarity justifies the price. How much of the metal exists in nature and how much can be processed, also what it can be used for. Platinum is so expensive because there is a very small amount that exists in nature to be excavated, and it can be used for so many things that makes it a low supply high demand product, resulting in crazy high prices.

    17:25 I think we need to try this out on either a murderer/rapist/peadophile/terrorist like they use to do back in the good old days. Seeing peoples decapitated heads on a spike for the general public to see will make people think twice.
    I really honestly think they should bring back the death penalty as there are so many people that are no use to society and just fuck up people and there lives.

    The United Fruit Company, still owner of the Chiquita Banana brand, has been/is one of the US's most exploitative companies in the world/ever. Ask any CostaRican worker, as I have. It is their lobbyists in the US, UK and EU who forced the rules about banana shapes and sizes. And their advertising that created our need for 'perfect' fruit. Anyone like fried banana or banana fritter? Do not use the green ones! Of course there is also 'plátano frito' (fried plantain, a smaller, fatter kind of banana cousin).Use these as green as possible, like the do for so-called 'banana chips'

    "Gold and silver change colour as they age, but because of its purity, platinum doesn't"
    That's a nonsense statement. Even impure higher-karat gold doesn't change colour with age, while pure platinum _does._ Purity isn't some magical antioxidant.
    (And since someone's probably gonna ACKSHULLY at me: I've worked with both karat _and_ fine gold. Only way 22k turns colour is if you almost melt it)

      Actualy no serious factory ever throws something away .. they always find a use (ugly banana becomes babyfood ... even in this video). Otherwise they would be draining cash. Even if they are rejected or pass their shelf life ... they become biogas or compost and their wrappings are reused. Total recycling is money as it saves energy.
