    I'm a little late to the party, but nice build! Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but you could reduce the chance of clogging if you used high-lift blades for the mower deck. They are specifically designed to move grass and such into the bagging systems you can buy. It basically creates a stronger vacuum under the blades, and stronger push above them. Love the videos, keep them coming!

      WO! It's been a while that somebody commented on this video! And no, never heard about the high-lif blades! Thanks for the tips!

      product initiates a clog due to localized low pressure locations due to sharp corners, turbulence, reduced velocity due to diameter increases through the chute, increases in gravitational acceleration fighting the product's kinetic momentum due to angling more upwards and more. Once the restriction is initiated, there's a self-fulfilling feedback loop where more leaves can build up behind the first and close off the line. Sure, hi-lift blades can increase your inlet pressure and resolve your issue, but there are practical limits to that variable in the entire system, and tackling the root causes are also valuable - likely better cost/benefit pathways - towards improving overall performance

    Audience, Mr CAD and laser design. Good job on the project. I had a 13 hp Craftman II mover since 1996. It was a little beast for gathering leaves up in the winter. I just recently sold it to a co-worker. She wasn't the prettiest mower, but was a hell of a worker. I purchased a commercial zero turn snapper from a small engine store in Nashville. It was closing the doors, and it cost $7000, but the guy said just pay me $3000 and it's yours. He said it was the last one after a full day sale, and he was closing that day permanently. I was visiting my sister in law, and had to rent a trailer from U-Haul to tow it back home. At least I drove my truck down, or I couldn't have got the deal of the day. That thing shreds grass and leaves without bogging down the engine. My yard stays clear of ALL leaf invasions from my neighbors trees. Merry Christmas and Happy 2020 New Years to you and your Family from the Tate's.

      That is a great story!! I love hearing when good things happen to people or when someone is at the right place at the right time. Was the guy who owned the shop very old? I am a chemical engineer and I worked in the pharmaceutical industry for years and after getting hit on my antique Harley over 18 months ago I decided that I am doing something that I want to do and love. I am opening a small engine repair business and as soon as I said that I had five Lincoln engine drive welders to repair /rebuild or restore. I am beginning to be happier about walking up and working now. It is a shame that we are losing a lot of people in the small engine business because of retirement or passing away. It always seemed to me to be the greatest occupation in reality. Never liked the pharmaceutical industry. And because of this plandemic there are even more reasons.

    • @donaldtate3372
      @donaldtate3372 ปีที่แล้ว

      @john koury Good Day Sir. He was at his retirement age, but provided hospitality as soon as we walked in. I didn’t have intentions on making such a big purchase, but the deal was right there. We grow up doing things what our parents want, but mostly never what we want to do. All work and no vomit 🤮 for things that make us happy, and if you really work hard at something you can become a master of it with full enjoyment. I believe you should live a short Happy life doing what you like, than a long and miserable life doing things you don’t like doing. You do just that and open up your business enjoying what you love. Don’t second guess or you’ll make the same mistake you made the first time. Once you get established, send me your business address. While I’m traveling, I’ll stop by and say HELLO 👋 friend.

    I've made my own as well. It has taken me a few years to work out some of the problems. The main problem with DYI leaf removal system like yours and mine is, there is no extra vac motor and mulching blade to help pull and push the leaf debris through the debris tube. To help solve this problem, the debris tube must be as straight as possible from the mower deck to the trailer. Your debris tube entry was mounted in the middle of the trailer which caused the tube to make a bend. You need to mount the tube entry to the far right side of the trailer to align more to the mower deck to achieve the straighter line. Good luck.

      @@paulneighbors6066 I have successfully made my own, with a lawn trailer bought at Low's for my leaf hopper. It works great with no issues at all and holds a lot of leaves. Everyone has the same problem with turning the trailer and the debris tube. I have developed something that solves that problem. I have seen most all of the You Tube videos on these and no one else has developed what I have. I don't want to say what it is or make a video of it in fear someone else makes a patent off my idea. The people that have seen it are impressed. My Dad says I should apply for a patent. But I'm just a guy with a good idea with no money to develop and market something like this.

      @@igoski1582 I made one with a straight piece of 7" chimney pipe, and a flexible elbow to get the angle correct, that comes off the existing bagger chute. 3/4" pvc pipe for the cage, wrapped in metal window screen, and that wrapped in chicken wire for strength. After the pipe coming out a few too many times on left hand turns, I hard bolted the trailer to the mower frame. I built a new frame under the trailer with 10" swivel caster wheels from HF. It unbolts in 2 minutes so I can still cut the grass without the trailer. The double bagger used to fill in 5 minutes. This trailer can go up to 1 hour before it's full. I should have made a video, II made it like 10 years ago.

    So i found the 1/4 inch chicken wire works good for a screen and unloading the collection trailer or cans/bags is definitely something to design for easy use less sharp angles on the schute improves clog free performance because any edge collects it and always face the output of leaves away from you don't wanna be riding with a back full of dust and the flexibility to manuver around obstacles is great because happening to run into stuff because you're not used to your length :) fun shooting a plume of leaves though

    1. reverse the direction of the pipe crimps (this is huge issue)
    2. move the exhaust port from entering the middle of the trailer to the right side add a small kicker to the very end of the pipe if need to more evenly distribute clippings( this will allow you to 3,4,&5)

    y can't we remove our dashboards and have them scanned into a pc program and just pop out dashboards for car replacements? Better yer, y are manufactures replicating dashes or recording parts for forever replication.. This is insane? We need a national car manufactured or just take over the next defunct car maker! ...I dont understand y we can't make a replica dash for cars to pop right back in??

    Well I would have thought a ride-on mower with a catcher would do exactly the same thing and you would not be dragging a trailer around.😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫
