Hortinvest Project Rwanda

The Hortinvest Project is a consortium of organizations and private sector companies that are working together to meet domestic, regional, and international export market demands and develop the horticulture sector in Rwanda.
IDH has worked with seven Rwandan SMEs to enable access to premium export markets and quality in domestic markets. Key interventions have been to provide commercialization capacity, agri-business management capabilities, technical support, and co-financing (including establishing a EUR 3 million fund for co-finance investments in horticultural export supply chains.)
The project has significantly increased weekly horticulture export volumes mainly to the Netherlands, UK, and France, and helped to establish crucial knowledge regarding export market requirements. In addition, significant systemic constraints in horticultural export value chains were addressed and improved, including cold storage and logistics capacity, air freight capacity and management, and the availability of required agricultural inputs.
