Thanks for putting together this video. Very nice setup you have there. I am very interest in buying a pair to run with my XR18 in the future. Please share if you have experience how these IQ15s stack up to the QSC, EV, and JBLs in the class range.
Hello, thank you very much for this video. I work for a sound company here in mauritius and we have just about the same set-up. Actually our IQ15s came in this week :) I have one question please, at 25:14 of the video, how did you get the frequency spectrum to show on your Ipad plz?
Sorry for the late reply...the RTA feature is in an update of the app itself. Unfortunately I would recommend not upgrading just yet. The latest version now is pretty unstable in terms of connection issues.
I'm interested in buying these speakers because our sound system at work has a Behringer X32, but I'm not sure just how useful the Ultranet functionality would be for me. Since it requires even more cables to be run to the speakers, then a computer to monitor all of it. Having said that, I really wish manufacturers would give real world numbers on their wattage rating. RMS should be the standard way of rating a speakers amplifier. 2,500 watt peak power doesn't tell me much. It could be less than 1,000 RMS for all I know. Although, I'm sure they'd blow the doors off of the JBL Eon 615's we currently have. We have a place capable of 250 to 300 people and when we get packed the Eon's tend to get soaked up a bit too much and there isn't much headroom to go louder on those. An upgrade is sorely needed. Not that I don't like the sound of the JBL's, they sound good, but just can't be pushed hard enough for some of our shows.
Showtime Premier in the video, the rack has 2 s16's, an x32 core, and a Furman power conditioner. since then, I have added a 24 port Cisco network switch and a small trendnet wireless router. I am a small production company so I use it for everything from bands, to weddings, to corporate events, etc. I also have an x32 compact to go with it so most of the time the rack acts as a snake head with the core being used as a monitor split.
It's not the equipment that gives you good vocals, but it's how you use the equipment. I've heard good vocals going through cheapo $50 shure mics and and a $30 Behringer board. Also the knowledge of how to use processing correctly, will help you, if you don't know the basics of EQ'ing, compression, and filtering, even a $70,000 Digico board and a $200,000 Meyer Milo array is going to sound like crap. Not trying to sound mean or anything, but based on your comment it sounds like you expect that your vocals will magically sound phenomenal if you use the equipment that I have, which would may not be the case.
Is it possible to digitally lock these speaker to stop other people from using them? I leave them at a venue I play in... it be a good idea for companies to do this
Forrest Houghton sorry to bother you again Forres.. I've setup these speakers changing over from an analogue desk to the XR18.. I've had a few online engineers help me get the best eq etc setup possible on the XR18 but the sound in comparison to my analogue is so cheap! I mean it does not do the IQ15s justice!! The fullness that comes from the analogue in these speakers is amazing!! Not so with the X32 or the XR18!! I've done everything possible to eq and produce a similar sound but no way!! It just isn't present and vocals are as bad!! Have you any suggestions??
Hey Forrest, I'm a mobile DJ and looking to get a set of these (pair IQ12 and IQ18B's) If I want to run them all via Ultranet would I have to get an x32 and rack case or can I run analog to one and Ultranet the others?
Cool vid and thanks for sharing your experience. No speaker cables? Niiiiice... I will have to fuss at Sweetwater as they spent alot of energy trying to sell me speaker cables with this unit. The bad news is that I had to wait on the purchase. The good news is that I did not buy speaker cables that were not needed. Thanks again.
Can u post a video on how to set the EQ and all the settings on these? Because mine sound like shit and clip a lot! I think they are junk! Please post video
I'm looking at getting either an iQ12 or a QSC K series, just for music at parties, instruments (Hammond / Nord organ, LOW, LOW bass notes) Which is the better unit?
OK so can anyone, please tell me what rack or whatever cheapest thingy I need to connect these speakers via ethernet cable to set up? All of them at once. I plan to have 4 speakers and 2 subs. SO what I need to manage it via software all together?
Thanks for reply. So it's additional 600 bucks just to set up speakers?. Why the hell these speakers do not have WiFI or any other wireless connectivity is just beyond me. If speakers have such advanced build in DSP why not make it wireless and accessible form ipad or any phone? Cheaper Turbosound line has it.
mikelo303 In the Pro-Audio industry sending main signals via wireless is just not a common practice....too much of a risk for interference and not as reliable as copper. So that's why you are not going to see that feature on the higher end speakers. if you want to add Bluetooth capability to these speakers than just find a Bluetooth to XLR adapter or something.
According to spec sheets the EV 15p has a 1500 watt (peak) class-d amp with a maximum SPL of 134dB, and the iQ15 has a 2500 watt (peak) class-d amp with a maximum SPL of 132dB. Again, that is just the spec sheets, how these actually perform in the real world is most likely different.
Yes and when did spec sheets ever effect the actual power of a particular speaker? I love Speakers and spend a fair bit of time calling local stores here in Australia asking them for their opinion on what sounds better and louder & recently was told that the EV EKX 12 & 15 were louder and sounded better than the TURBO SOUND iq series. Which does'nt surprise me as one of the other local stores that i buy quite a bit from said the same thing he also said he may not stock the Model range as he already has HK , MACKIE,& YAMAHA + more the only thing i like anout the iq's are the connections , feedback and eq options.
When unboxed is it not just plug and play? Do I have to plug it into something to get It to work?
Why do turbosound make it so difficult to find the edit app?!! Can you tell me where I can get it??

Great overview. Thanks for taking the time and going into such great detail. Very helpful. Peace.

Did you update the firmware to the latest? Is it stable? Thanks.
Yes we did, and everything's working just fine. Thank you Forest for your feedback..
I have a question if i have 2x Turbosound iQ15 and some good subs can i do sound for a rock band at a venue with about 300-500 people? Thnx

Hi Forrest, can you give me a break down on the components you have in that flight case... is that for a band setup or solo artist.. many thanks

Forrest What would I need out of that rack just for vocals.. I'm using backing tracks from laptop and wantvtge best vocals possible thank you 😊

Showtime Premier yes, you can set a password on it.

Are this speakers louder than the QSC KW152?

squaty1212 although that is a really cool idea, it can't work that way. You will need any mixer from the X/M series or the XR18.
Forrest Houghton So would the X18 tablet mixer work?
squaty1212 yes, yes it would. I forgot to list that one. It's not as common as the other ones, but it does have ultranet.
Looking forward to the next bit of spare cash! Deffo going to get myself a pair!

I have only used k series as monitors before, so I can't compare the two accurately.
Thx. Great video.

The absolute cheapest solution would be to buy an xr18 and connect the speakers to the ultranet port via ethernet on that.

Blast that thing & to Hell with the neighbors!😂
I've heard that the EV EKX are louder than these , but these have more connection features and also have feedback filters etc.
