That's a very good question. There is a dash kit available and it is the Metra 99-9008, which is available on our site. It might of not been available at the time of this install.
@SoToxsiK It looks like for the most part we used the AK04 for power/ground and RCA connections. The speaker wire used is Kicker speaker wire. I believe we used the 09XW1220 for speaker wire. It's 12 gauge Kicker speaker wire to get some better signal from the amp.
@vespaT27 That particular vehicle doesn't require a dash kit. The the factory radio is a standard single din size, so when you install an aftermarket radio you'll just use the volkswagen removal keys to remove the factory radio and use a mounting cage that's supplied with aftermarket radios to mount the radio into the factory area. No dash kit is required for your vehicle.
@MilRom9 You can also pickup the hardware from us as well. The Scosche TK12V is a great entry-level kit with wire crimpers, some butt-connectors, a multi-meter, and a pry-tool. Just search for TK12 or TK12V on the green search bar on our main website and you will be able to find these tools. If you need just connectors, we sell them in packs of 100, so we have plenty of different ways to stock up your connectors.
@DerbiSmdu1480 The remote wire will go from the radio to the remote input on the amplifier. This wire allows the amplifier to be turned on when your vehicle does.
Soldering is always the most secure way to make a connection. However, crimp connectors are good as well. Just make sure you properly crimp both sides of the crimp connectors and you will be fine.
@Amalemodel Its the blue and white wire on the harness that came with the radio and the solid blue wire coming from the car harness. Make sure you don't confuse the remote turn on wire with the power antenna wire.
@javiderek31 No this is not normal, the problem here is that the remote wire from the amp is more than likely connect to an accessory power wire. So the amp turns on and off with the car and not the radio. To fix this problem make sure that your remote turn-on wire is connected directly to the remote output of the radio, this will cause the amplifier to turn on and off along with the radio.
The Hifonics Brutus amplifiers are great because they are both affordable and efficient. We recommend these amps for people who are looking for a lot of power and who have the electrical system to support it. If they say they put out 2000 watts, they will put out very close, if not 2000 watts. If you check out our reviews on each of them you will see how much people love them. Hope this helps!
@SoToxsiK That's fine, you're not significantly under powering them at all. You can throw some extra power to those comps though, they can handle an extra 100 watts each if you really want.
@bsiffy When using a crimp cap or butt connector all you need to do is connect the copper from the wire to the metal inside of the connector. This will conduct the other end of copper. The ends of copper don't necessarily need to be inserted until they touch each other, although you will want to insert them as securely as possible so the install will last.
@SoToxsiK Break-in time usually takes about 24 hours of playing time for your subwoofer. During this break-in period keep your amplifiers settings around half-way of where you want them at the end of the break-in period. For example, instead of turning your gain settings on the amplifier to half way, turn it to about half of that. This will help keep your subwoofer distortion free, or keep them from heating up too much as well. Good luck with that setup!
@joshdesjardins6 A single channel amplifier would be the same thing as a Monoblock amplifier. Usually, most monoblock amplifiers are made with Class D Circuitry, so in this particular case this amplifier is a Class D Monoblock Amplifier, which you can also call a single channel amplifier if you want to.
The enclosure is what will make a subwoofer sound it's best. You have to double RMS power just to get a little more volume out of your subs. The enclosure is important. Subwoofers can handle a wide range of RMS power, staying at the recommended is not required. Also, customer budget is a big factor in all of this. Usually, over powering by a little bit is a good idea.
You would have to call a local installer to get price quotes for installation. As far as the system goes, you can call our customer service line a call and they can help you pick out a system.
@JERMX101 The best way to do this is using L-brackets, this will allow you to mount the enclosure to the floor. You might want to use one for every corner just to make sure its securely mounted.
@jacedison In general, it's perfectly fine for a car audio system to be run from 4 ohms to 2 ohms, as long as you hook them up correctly. With your particular setup, you may be under-powering the subwoofers, even at 2 ohms. Check to see how much RMS power your subwoofers require (not peak or max) and see how close that matches up to your amplifiers power output at 2 ohms. If your subwoofers are dual voice coils (two +/- terminals) you can only wire to 1 or 4 ohms on your amplifier.
@EASYxxZ It's always good to have an aftermarket stereo since it makes hooking up the amplifier easier. If you don't want to get a stereo you could always get a Line Output Converter to convert your speaker wire into RCA outputs to run to your amplifier.
That is just the MAX rating of the speakers. It is what they can handle. You don't want to run them at that output because you can blow them. You want to match the RMS rating of both the amp and speakers. That is your best solution.
@eagle0924 You might want to consider the box you are using. If it is a ported or vented box, it would be a good idea to switch it out for a sealed box. This will cause your bass output to be more accurate and precise. Make sure that the internal volume is between .5 and 1.0 cubic feet.
@hendlank A perfect amplifier would be the Alpine MRP-M2000. You must make sure that it is connect in a Series configutation for a final impedence of 4 ohms and 1500 Watts.
Well done Brendan!! It is now obvious how you got to be on the Sonic Electronix TH-cam vids. Your expertise really shines in this type of video. Great job at clearly & quickly explaining the steps in an organized manner. This is probably my favorite Sonic Electronix vid!! (Don't tell Seth) :)
You're going to need a dashboard installation kit to put an aftermarket receiver in your vehicle. Metra recommends the Metra 99-9011, which we have available on our website. Give us a call if you have any other compatibility questions and we would be happy to help you out!
@jacedison We would recommend only using this boss amplifier for one of these subwoofers not for two. You are going to need a more powerful amp to run two of them.
@EricsFarm Yes you will be able to hook up these subs to a monoblock amp. You will need to wire them in a Series configuration. You can find a visual diagram through the following link: knowledge.sonicelectronix[DOT]com/tools/subwoofer-wiring/
If you don't feel comfortable doing the installation yourself and learning some about car audio installations, then take it to a professional and get pro results. However, if you want to do it yourself, then check out our Knowledge Base and other videos for some help.
@TheToTooTwo Not in this particular installation. A Big 3 Upgrade works wonders for system that require a little more power. This system only uses a total of 300W RMS. Although a Big 3 Upgrade will always help, you don't really need to do one until you're getting towards 900-1000W RMS or more. Than you'll definitely want to do a Big 3 Upgrade.
@vespaT27 You'll need to purchase separate wiring for the MTX Magnum package. For the radio removal, you'll also need to purchase VW Radio Removal Keys separately. You will need an antenna adapter for that vehicle if you would like to retain your AM/FM transmissions. The Metra 40-VW10 is a great option to use in this particular case. The model number for the radio removal keys is the Metra 86-9001.
You always disconnect the battery when changing anything in the vehicle. We are not aware of any issue with the bug where you need alternate power sources.
If anyone's wondering what the last song is, it is Pursuit of hapiness by Kid Cudi BUT.... its dubstep...... for those on Lime or Frostwire: Pursuit of Happiness (Steve Aoki Mix - The Killabits Dubstep Re-work).
@bassline123456789 You can drop the impedance of any speaker. So if you have two single 4 ohm Kicker Comps and you want to wire them down to 2 ohms like in the video, go ahead! That will work great!
@ChevyGangman323 You will need to use the remote wire coming from your head-unit, and rout it to both of your amplifiers as well as your Epicenter's remote input terminals. The remote wire will trigger all of your devices to turn on whenever your head-unit is powered up.
@Djordjeeee451 It is possible. Depending on the stereo you choose. Some car stereos might have a lower signal-to-noise ratio, or a less than quality digital-to-analog converter. These are huge when it comes to sound quality. Check out some stereos by Kenwood, Pioneer, JVC's new stereos, and you'll fine happy with the sound quality you get.
Vic, you don't want to do that. You need to make sure you use a terminal for it so your connection is secure. The way your friend did it could cause problems if it comes lose or if anything hits it. It is dangerous.
I drive a 69 VW beetle. He didn't have any type of music in him before so I went and got a system put in. I got a kenwood stereo face plate Two amps, two 12inch subs, two 6x9 speakers, and two 6 1/2. Speakers. I don't know anything about wiring stereo systems. Would you or anyone be able to tell me why does the vocals in the songs cut out as soon as I turn the volume up, Or as soon as the bass in the song drops?
@jacedison The peak power is a completely useless number. You want to only pay attention to the RMS ratings. However, being that this is a boss amplifier, even their RMS power ratings are going to be exaggerated because this is not a CEA compliant amplifier. This amplifier will probably not be powerful enough.
If I were you, I would have hooked up the ground to the seatbelt bracket. It is the best solid ground you will find, and it's in the trunk, and don't have to put holes in your car.
when crimping the factory wire harness to the aftermarket wire harness do the actual copper wire parts have to touch each other? and if they do should you twist them together then put the crimp part over them?
So where exactly am I to push this wire to go to battery cause I can't find nowhere I have the rods and everything but no idea where the hell u even push it through into the engine bay
So I was on the website and saw a lot of wiring kits that look similar to the one that was used in the video..I just wanted to know exactly what kind of wiring kit was used??..from what brand??..
I have a DB Drive (A5-125.4) amp powering four Faital Pro midrange speakers with each rated at 130rms , they are 8 ohms. The specs of the amp are as follows - • 4 x 125 Watts @ 4 Ohm • 4 x 200 Watts @ 2 Ohm • 2 x 300 Watts @ 4 Ohm Bridged The amp is bridged bringing the resistance of each pair to 4 ohms because i hooked them up parallel. I would like to hook up a pair of Power Acoustik NB-1 tweeters rated at 100rms at 4 ohms. I would like to know if this can be done ? If it could be done i would like some info as to how to wire them please. Thanks.
i got a question. i got a car from a friend it came with a rockford fosgate amplifier and a alpine type r 10" sub. the problem im having is that i listen to broad spectrum of electronic music and it all sounds good except for hardstyle. if your familiar you know hardstyle has a very fast beat, my sub can't keep up with it and it is often a beat behind and just screws up the song. i was wondering if there was anything i could do to fix this.

I have never installed subs in my life and I just got a 4k watt amp and want to get two 12's as well should I get professionally done or should I try and do it myself?

@ThaDmo541 LOL. Don't worry. We aren't entering in our own contest. This is just for you to enjoy!
Why didn't you show the stereo after the install ??? even with no front trim piece it would have been nice to see it !!!

Two 12's would be just fine for your car. The 15's are also good for a budget system, but are a little over-kill for your vehicle.
It does as long as it has RCA outputs to run to the amp.
For a car like the Century, you should be fine with two 12" woofers. Thats what i would recommend.
We will definitely try to get a video of that install.
You always disconnect the battery when changing anything in the vehicle. We are not aware of any issue with the bug where you need alternate power sources.

@awille13 Yes, the zx300.1 is a perfect match!
@importracer46 We would recommend just going with the zx300.1 to run these two subwoofers.
hello i had a question. I have 2 kicker comps 15" 4 ohm and want to wire them to 2 ohm. Can i hook both to a mono block amp?
Vic, you don't want to do that. You need to make sure you use a terminal for it so your connection is secure. The way your friend did it could cause problems if it comes lose or if anything hits it. It is dangerous.
Nice work ! Keep it up, Man!
Can u send me a link on where to get the harness for a vw 2004 beetle? Im having trouble finding the right one
Search ebay
Installing after market stereos in a beetle may render the code scanner inoperable. A loop back cable has to be clipped or youll have issues
If you want to install this to your stock stereo, then you would need a line out converter.
Where would I find a spot to put my power wire through the firewall on my 2002 new nettle 1.9 tdi
Good, Clean Install, Good Job
Any ideas on why the radio would stop working if the car hood was closed?
@fastodie Pursuit of happiness.
for all of those speakers and everything how much would it cost all together?
Can you please give me a more detailed explanation of how you wired the subs to the amp? Thanks alot!
@SonicElectronixTV you thanks for the ifo man
Do you have to remove the stock stereo for any system
Were there any unused wires from O.E.M to JVC head?
Wow really!? Thanks so much..okay i have one last question..how long does it usually take to break them in?..I've only had them for about a week..
So quick question. So its safe to drill a small hole in a subwoofer box to run the wire through?
Nice vid, how did u do the plug and play harness?
hey can u make a video showing how to replace the front+back speakers please?
How did u run power wire from battery to amp
I drive a 69 VW beetle. He didn't have any type of music in him before so I went and got a system put in. I got a kenwood stereo face plate Two amps, two 12inch subs, two 6x9 speakers, and two 6 1/2. Speakers. I don't know anything about wiring stereo systems.

great video! i am looking to buy 2 12 inch kicker comps, and the rms is 150, so the amp in this video would be perfect?

nicely done
@hendlank Are your Type R's Dual 4 ohm or Dual 2 Ohm?
Can u guys post more install videos that u guys do for other cars
when crimping the factory wire harness to the aftermarket wire harness do the actual copper wire parts have to touch each other? and if they do should you twist them together then put the crimp part over them?
what would you recommened for a Golf mark 1 ?
Where did u run the power wire
I went to install a aftermarket radio in my 1995 Toyota Tacoma, and it was the fourth add-on...
So where exactly am I to push this wire to go to battery cause I can't find nowhere I have the rods and everything but no idea where the hell u even push it through into the engine bay

What I didn’t see in this video is where tf you run the red cable from the front to the back
whats the name of the song u played at the end?
Then you need to buy an amplifier with a Hi-Level input as well as an amp wiring kit, a subwoofer, and an enclosure.
Do you have to put in the jvc radio or can you keep the monsoon in?
Thanks so much!! You guys rock!! :)
I own this exact car, And I am installing my amp and sub soon, I was wondering where you ran your RCA and Battery ground to the trunk, you seem to have skipped that step in the video. I would really appreciate your response, Thanks for your time!
Did you ever find out how to run the wires?
Great video! Nice products, too :)
I have never installed subs in my life and I just got a 4k watt amp and want to get two 12's as well should I get professionally done or should I try and do it myself?
@Eripena was your car on or off when the amp stayed on when the radio was off?
