    The talent Peerless Lumberjack (1% chance to fell a tree) completely screws up the talent above it (Seasoned Logsman). The tree explodes into wood and you have to pick up all the pieces which negates the talent that puts all the wood directly into your inventory while harvesting wood normally. So unless they have fixed this, stay away from Peerless Lumberjack.

      Oh, daaaamn! This must be pinned down, before others have this issue at their hand!
      Thank you for the warning and comment!

      My first build, during the last week of the Beta test weekend, had both Peerless Lumberjack and Seasoned Logsman. They both worked fine for me. Occasionally a while on the floor the fell tree would not auto pick up 1 jog worth. Maybe I got lucky or a bug has crept in during updates since then.

    Hey man, first off, just want to say that I really enjoy the content you've produced on this game. Every video is filled with good info that comes from an in depth analysis that nobody else has even attempted to provide. You get to the point, then elaborate, not wasting the viewers time, but also getting psyched about topic and showing off examples is good stuff. Sincerely, thank you.
    As for the topic at hand, while I get most of the math you're talking about here, and I agree this feels too over powered to not utilize. This does however, feel like one of those things that's definitely going to be patched at some point. For example, if I'm a dev that particularly enjoys listening to the casuals complain about the cost of T4 equipment and want no reduction to the time investment required to get there, I would simply change the over-encumberance penalty to hit total movement speed instead of simply the base movement speed. Whether that's a worthwhile change for the developers to spend time on is a different question entirely. Does the same kind of logic, the base movement speed value being the target of the condition's effects, apply to other conditions like a sprain or a break? If not, then this may stick around for a good long while. That said, maybe this is intentional behavior, and theres no threat of this fun build being nerfed. At any rate, thanks for another good video, and a fun build.

      Thank you so much for your kind words - that means a lot to me! More energy to put back in the work! :)
      In my opinion there is little to no danger of this being patched - mostly because we find a lot split buff applications being additive, not multiplicative. Basically there is mix of both being applied. In my experience and gaming there is a chance multiplicative buff applications being changed to additive making them less powerful. And in this case I believe this all is made intentionally keeping in mind not to buff too much and in the time - not to debuff too much. Of course - this can chance and devs can update/patch it any time :D
      As mentioned in other comments - I see how this is not becoming a mainstream/meta because of different (read - slow) playstyle being utilized and that is not for everyone. As well devs have a lot of bigger fishes to fry than this..relatively minor thing :) I hope at least :D

      @@MLMariss NP & Nice, I am working on a fully solo character build & trying to figure out the most beneficial talents to choose. Exotic power is good to have since you wont have anyone else with you to help carry exotics, healthbars & seasoned logsman is a must imo. I'm not sure if its worth going down the solo tree too much cause there's not much there in terms of unique talents, mainly reduction costs and a 10% xp boost. Some of the talents from the top will be very beneficial though, extra increase to base health stamina & move speed is always a good thing, also the reduced damage from animal attacks could be very useful to have.

    Spears don't get a +10% Movement Speed Talent, but the Exotic Spear from the Workshop ( 'JIJU' ) provides +10% Movement Speed, if you're into that sort of thing.

    • @MLMariss
      @MLMariss  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very true, BUT I would never consider an spear to take 1 of valuable slots coming from orbit. Especially how often I find a cases where spear is lost..not often, but if that would happen to that orbital spear..I can just imagine the pain and suffering there :D

    Alright so hear me out, this build focuses on Movement with Bows. Ideally you're holding your bow in your hand while having a Backpack in your G slot, fully encumbered, slot capped, and have at least one exotic. Bunny hopping carries your momentum, and the 30% stamina reduction on jumping is insane for moving across the map. link to the build - ggj1
    Survival -
    Resources:
    Lumber Yield - 1
    Rock Star - 1
    Carry On - 4
    Wood Breakdown - 1
    Slinging Stone - 1
    Dense Packing - 1
    Metal Miner - 3
    Exotic Sprinter - 3
    Lucky Strike - 1
    Seasoned Logsman - 1
    Exploration:
    Robust Explorer - 3
    Swift Survivor - 3
    Carbo Loaded - 1
    Plyometrics - 3
    Hunting:
    Chase 'Em Down - 3
    Bone Collector - 1
    Strong Shoulders - 1
    Health Bars - 1
    Combat -
    Bows:
    Bow Agility - 3
    Increased Arrow Damage I - 1
    Increased Arrow Damage II - 3
    Trained Bowsmith - 1
    Soft Spot I - 1
    Twice the Fun - 2
    Soft Spot II - 1
    Homing Instinct - 1
    You have 1 point to spend, the most appeal choices are :
    Pinning Shot (Chance for arrow strikes to immobilize target - 5% )
    Crafty Fletcher (Chance to craft double when crafting arrows - 10%)
    Fine Butcher I (Increased Meat yield when skinning - 25%)
    Quick Getaway (Increased stamina regen after taking damage - ?)
    Let me know what your thoughts are and what you'd put the point in. :)

    • @MLMariss
      @MLMariss  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm..this is an interesting approach! While I see the direction you are going - it doesn't help me understand all the 'wasted' points going for Lucky Strike and the Metal Miner..which I have tested and doesn't prove worthy in any way or shape or form.. :D
      And another counter-argument I can lay against -30% stamina while jumping is you traded off -75 Stamina for not going after Chasing Em down. Without buffs, you can see how 75 will add up to quite a huge chunk of your initial Stamina. Which of course can and will be used for all actions, not only for jumping.
      So while this would be a viable option for this one specific scenario and goal - it would be hard to fin such cases and defend the build for any other gameplay aspects.
      And the final note - here build relay on finding and getting at least one Exotic. Sometimes you find one in your 1st-2nd cave, sometimes you find none, so while that is the case talent point spent seems more like a gamble :D

    Also did you know if you use a stone pickaxe to break the animal bones you get more bones than if you used the knife? I think the quantity of bone you get is based on how many it gives you per hit rather than the total available for that node. I think since the melee damage is lower on the pick axe, you get more? I noticed that I get more with a stone pickaxe than I do with a skinning knife. Could others test this theory and see what their results are? Also I think the bonus bone from skinning only applies to the initial skinning and not the break down of the animal bones....so that is something to thing about when spec'ing into that talent.

    • @MLMariss
      @MLMariss  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you could be on something! And that similarly translates what I have tested on ore nodes..
      The only thing is - the axe ore pickaxe gathering is soooo slow - that is the main reason I use knife for it (highest DPS) and because bones are not considered that rare of a resource. Thank you for this awesome comment and even more things we collectively notice/find in this game :D

  • @hprlite
    @hprlite 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for all of this, I completely agree and have now been using this "Carry On" max!! Speed is fine now. Any thoughts then that max carrying capacity is irrelevant, thus saving 5 Talent points on no longer using "Dense Packing"? I understand you wouldn't have enough points for the "Seasoned Logsman", but holding "F" while chopping gets close to as fast, and now you have 8 talent points that could be used elsewhere. Could totally re-evaluate the Talent allocations....

    • @MLMariss
      @MLMariss  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Happy to help - and I had exactly the same thoughts..how much points we could gain if we dropped Dense Packing :D
      The first counter argument I had for myself was - it is still a HUGE benefit when not encumbered - that 922 speed you can have for longer (with higher weight capacity)..is a huge bonus!

  • @criteecgaming
    @criteecgaming 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    There and back versus there, back, then, there and back again is double correct, not times 3? You're comparing 2 travel times verses 4 travel times. Love the breakdown tho I will rethink my talent tree on my new character.

    • @MLMariss
      @MLMariss  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Had to read it 3 times :D But yea - when I was explaining I was thinking about the situation when you are already in the cave. Mining your ore and then the encumbered kicks in..so the first trip from base to the cave is..not optional and there is no way/reason to arrive to the cave encumbered, so I'm crossing that first trip out :D

    Hey man, can you show us how Homing Instinct - the homing arrows work? i dont know if its worth it to take the talent.

    • @MLMariss
      @MLMariss  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm..that's a fair thing to ask! It took me quite a while to figure it out and still there are times where it feels like the arrow is 'naah, not going to track this target' and it's a sure miss :D
      Meanwhile - check out this worst case scenario of Homing Instinct: th-cam.com/video/7thGzCIa3pI/w-d-xo.html
      Not my video, but captures the essence everyone needs to be aware of how it works!

      I will say - in theory they will stack! Just the part equipped means not in the hotbar but in the hands, so as there is no dual wield - you can't possibly get two of them enabled at the same time. :D

    This isn't bad information at all. Personally I prefer to make multiple trips. I'm not good at dodging bears with full speed. They tend to still get a hit in for me. I usually prefer to go around. Right now I'm running a solo build for speed and stamina. This would in theory reduce it by another 3 percent I think? So, not bad. Just comes down to play style.

    • @MLMariss
      @MLMariss  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, yes - the solo bonus can be put on top of this! And you are right - the playstyle always come in play! ;)

    • @jxh027bify

      Even better for solo players. You have an additional 10% movespeed.

    • @MLMariss
      @MLMariss  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So for absolute solo, never ever playing with others, no chance in the world you'd be in game with anyone else..then on top of this - as mentioned above, yes, you can stack/add more of it!
      But in any other situation - I would suggest to avoid solo points..as they simple turn off if there is anyone else in the session.
      Plus - if you look at the talents, solo tree provides kind of basic stuff - speed/stamina/hp etc. where normal talent trees give you absolutely unique things!
