The first 2 episodes were like "meh.." i kept watching, when i realized on episode 8, its the latest one for season 1 and there is no season 2 i panicked... I WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED! Do the season 2!

On top crazy mix of Ideas of Quantum Retro causality, there is very intense family Drama that is as much interesting as other ideas in the show and the Music Damn!! Its Epic.....

The show is very good actually, although I'm biased as I love these alternate history things a lot. But the issue for me is that the show isn't Polish enough. Even though they mention like winged hussars, Kosciusko, Emilia Plater, Mickiewicz... they might as well have mentioned Wawel Dragon or Mieszko, but it just feels like a Hollywood production. And I'm not Polish, I'm Latvian actually and sure I am interested in history and probably know a bit more than the average person about Polish history and stuff, but that's not what I'm talking about. It was written by an American and it shows, the classic American TV series scheme. I would have liked it to be a bit more Polish in little details, like when you watch a Swedish series there are those small things by which you can tell its Swedish, Brits - the same. Etc. Here you could take any country and change some names and references to history and dates and make the same show.
It just feels very cold, American style. All grand and self important, some cheesy lines like ''one man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist''. All these stylish offices, Asian-town (while it kinda makes sense in the parallel universe) etc. I also understand that it's not set in present day Poland but imaginary land, but still some bits of culture (not name dropping) could have seeped through more. In that sense 1983 segments at least had something, the Soviet commieblocks, the issues that Polish faced in those years etc. I know 20 years had gone by, but still 20 years do not mean that all just got erased. It does not work like that, that one day you are in Poland 1983 and in 20 years you have only skyscrapers, stylish police headquarters and Vietnamese town with Vietnamese gang running things there...

Agree 100%. It feels off. There’s a distinguished way people act and speak in every culture/country. The writers failed to deliver these nuances making dialogues feel very unnatural.

Hi, I'm from Poland. Interesting idea. 1984 is communistic dystopia. If communism didn't fall in Poland, then it wouldn't have fallen in Germany. It could be prequel to 1984. I hope so.

(no spoilers) - This show is like a good book, keept me coming back to see what unfolds...if you can get past the bad voice/over acting. Its as if they only had enough money for a handful of voice actors (a lot of male characters sound like the same guy), and even though the physical acting is good and their body language and facial expressions really convey the scenes on an emotional level.....its as if the voice actor is ordering an entree at a local diner with a creepy hitting on the waitress vibe... its hard to explain. Other than that, if you like a deep story and you have the patients for the answers... its a good show.
Why dont you just watch with subtitels.

This series is about a conception that the communism in Poland wasn’t destroyed in fact as I guess you know Poland is a proud democratic country since 1989🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱
The plot clearly shows that the Party is in control and that Poland celebrated kicking the Soviets out of Poland completely!!! This supposed to show that Poland rivals Soviet Union (fighting Russians in Czecznia and possessing its own nuclear arsenal), somehow people missed the main plot.

It's actually set in 2003 but it's "what if" type of story where terrorist attack in capitol in 1983 (that's explain the title) completelly changed history of Poland. Because of that "Iron Curtain" never felt so Soviet Union is pretty much
great military power with influence over half of the Europe.
You can always choose to revert to the native language of a series and have subtitles. Just preference. I can't stand dubbing it ruins the acting performance for me.

I can't tell if it is on netflix , but I would recommend to you another polish series " Blinded By The Lights" ( originally " Ślepnąc Od Świateł") by HBO. 👍
Any good series suggestions with not too much seasons/episodes? Any genre except romantic.
This one looks promissing. Looking at producers and cast I can already say that they won't spend time on romantic scenes. Unfortunately in our times most shows is full of romantic drama so finding shows where there is only a little of romance it's already challange. If you are looking for something with not many episodes and without love drama I can recommend (in this order):
- 4400 (it's sci-fi series, 1st season is slower but it's only 6 episodes long, it has a couple but romanse is never on focus, since season 2 it's amazing)
- Narcos (it's more like biographical show but they changed some facts, again there is couple but romanse was never on focus)
- Wataha (it's about border guard in Poland, it has 2 seasons, each of them has 6 episodes)

Its an a alternative history movie, its a legal way to bend the truth. A lot of people watch junk like this and think that that really happened, if they never investigate more into it they will believe it, that is this cool American way of lie, then repeated enough becomes truth.
