- Three people were jailed over a nightclub knife rampage that left a rugby player dead and four others seriously injured.
Jake Hill, 25, fatally stabbed Michael Riddiough-Allen, 32, outside Eclipse Nightclub in Bodmin on 30 April 2023.
Hill also injured four others with a serrated hunting knife he had hidden in a nearby hedge after the venue closed.
Mr Riddiough-Allen intervened in a bid to prevent Hill from injuring others but suffered a fatal wound to his abdomen and died at the scene.
Hill was convicted of murder following a trial at Truro Crown Court. He was jailed for life and told he will serve a minimum of 28 years.
Passing sentence, the judge, Mrs Justice Cutts, said: "This is a paradigm case of the dangers of carrying knives. Experience shows that, whatever their initial intention, those who carry knives are quick to use them, and with devastating consequences."
Tia Taylor, 22, who attacked Mr Riddiough-Allen as he lay injured on the ground, admitted manslaughter and perverting the course of justice. Hill was found hiding from police inside her loft hours after the killing.
She was jailed for three years.
Chelsea Powell, also 22, who was cleared of murder and manslaughter but convicted of perverting the course of justice for lying to police during the course of the investigation, was jailed for 15 months. She was told she would be released immediately due to time spent on remand awaiting trial.
