I have had ridge grappler usually but for my new gmc I got the recon because they were available and I am beyond happy. They have been great so far. We had lots of rain last weak and they were awesome
Glad you're happy with them. You said you got them because they were available, I assume it was a supply issue like I ran into trying to get the other tires for the line up.
Love Nitto after converting from ProComp many years and generations ago for my Lifted Cummins. Love this review as I'm looking for something on the wifes Jeep Grand Cherokee. Excellent explanation of how Nitto is making something for everyone and this vid review helped me seal the deal on the new Nomad vs the G2. Have had the Terra, Ridge on my Ram and rave all day long on how quiet and handle on/off road and the superb longevity! You must rotate them regularly I found as the secret to getting 65k+ miles out of em.
I put the Nomad grapplers on my wife’s Subaru Forester and they performed exceptionally! 3 peak snow raited gets through everything. I’m very impressed with them.
I just purchased nomad grappler for wife's subaru outback had them 2 weeks so far they ride smooth & soak up road bumps & pot holes really well & channel the water out great we will see how they do this winter on snow, slush, ice . So far satisfied hope tread wear will be good 👍
@Jordan FitCarGuy We just got a pile of snow up here in Northern Wisconsin. I was able to go play around in the woods. So far, these tires are just as quiet as the stock tires. I got the 10ply E rated on a 2018 F150. I wish I would have went with the 6 ply P rated because these are some stiff tires. I'm still very pleased with my purchase. 8000 miles on them so far. I was surprised at how aggressive they look.
My 4x4 4runner was shipped from Japan with terra grapplers. I,ve had great service.I keep replacing with them.Factory look, quitish when worn.3 peak winter rated, rim guard...I,ll keep buying.❤
Wildpeak at trail vs nitto nomad grappler vs nokian outpost apt. What are you general thoughts on these three? Could you pick a “winner” between them especially with road noise?
Left out some key details. The nomads, while the least aggressive, have the 3 peak mountain snowflake rating, which means besides actual dedicated snow tires these are the best out there for snow, better than the recons. The mud grapplers are softer and if you use at all for paved roads they wear quick. Its not as simple as least to most aggressive.
Howdy Matt! Thanks as always for your insight and information in your videos! Another great one Sir! Take Care and Stay Safe! And Let’s Go Hokies 🏈 🦃 !!
Been running the Terra Grappler and super happy with it. I am thinking about putting the Recon on my new F150, but not so sure about road noise and performance in wet and snow. Any additional info you can add around that would be awesome. I am in the Rocky Mountains of Idaho/Utah/Montana. Thanks.
I have run Nittos and Toyos on several trucks, and a couple trailers, with good results. I did find that EXOs scalloped pretty bad and got noisy on my current Ram dually, but still got over 40K out of them with some life left. Bridgestone R500s are quiet as a mouse on the dually with 10K rotations.
are the terra grappler any good in the snow as i live in minnesota and even the supposedly marked show tires i have on my truck are just not getting the traction in the snow i think they are getting to hard when it gets cold out.
Hey Matt. just wanted to try you again about the Continentals on your Suburban. Is yours the 1500 and what if anything do you tow with it. Thanks . . . JJFIII
Subaru owner here. Can you compare the Nitto Nomad Grappler with the Falken Wildpeak Trail? In your Falken Wildpeak Trail review a couple years ago, you said at the time that you were not sure if it would take off. On TireRack, there are several hundred reviews on the Wildpeak Trails now. There is not a whole lot on the Nitto Nomad Grapplers. I will see snow, some dirt and mud, and a lot of highway. Got a ‘24 Subaru Crosstrek Limited on order and planning on doing an AT tire on day 1.
Would you go with the Nitto Trail Grappler over the Firestone MT2 for a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon? I like the look of the Firestones but they are Firestones after all and regret buying a set of them for my truck years ago....keep up the awesome tire talk!
Looking to replace my terra grapplers and I want something quiet and smooth just like they are. Would you do nitto reacon grapplers, kenda kevler rt, geolander Yokohamas at? Which would be the whitest and smoothest ride?
Same here.....no stock size Recons for my 2019 Tundra. I was thinking of the Terra G2's also. Mostly highway and towing a boat. With occasional beach driving here on the TX coast. What did u end up getting?
I would go with nomad purchased a set couple weeks ago. I have had the trail terrain in the past just depends & from what I have experienced driving in wet weather the nomad is far superior
Well iam gonna correct my self here I have not owned the trail terrain got it mixed up with rugged terrain so 🤷 I was wrong on my thoughts 😅 lol now i wanna see that comparison too but iam pleased right now on nomads
The recon grappler is more aggressive than the G2 in my opinion. Also, the recon has better sand traction than the ridge grappler in other testing. I know this is an older video but driveline has a good comparison between the ridge grappler and the recon rapper. the recon is a better tire on road as we all know but it’s very good off-road as well. Just a little less than the grappler off-road but you get a lot more.
In my experience this is the list of best to worst over the last decade of off road/overland/highway driving. Including summer and real winter driving. 1. Nitto Exo Grapplers. Best overall traction in just about anything. Mud, deep snow and even compact snow. Downfall: heavy, stiff and I lost 2mpg. Balanced perfectly. Pretty quiet. 2. GY Duratrac. I would say it rivals the Exo in overall traction but only 2ply sidewall. Only downfall was I had two of the four take extra weight to balance. Pretty quite too. Lost 1mpg. 3. Nitto G2. Respectable traction in most conditions, second best in my experience on compact snow and ice. The quietest AT Ive ever driven on. Balanced perfect. Maintained fuel economy from stock tires. Probably the best choice for most drivers realistically. 4. BFG Ko2. Overall a very good performer and offers good overall traction. 3ply sidewall. Took a few extra ounces to balance but no real issues. Slight hum compared to other AT tires. Look great! Lost 1mpg. Not overly heavy. 5. Firestone XT. Best AT for compact snow/ice traction. Actually very impressive winter traction, like hands down the best of the bunch. Soft and noisy cornering. They just dont offer confidence in the corners on dry roads, making your steering feel soft. Quiet. 5. Falken at3w. These are a dead tie with the Firestones. Maybe even a tie with the ko2 as well. Very close. Good overall traction in most situations. Holds rocks! 3 peak snow traction and good on compact snow, ok on ice. Not great in mud. Heavy! These get very heavy as you step up in size. Decently quiet. 5. Firestone MT2. A mud tire, so noisy and winter traction isnt ideal unless its deep powder or slush. You can expect 1-2mpg loss. Look great in my opinion, like a military style tire. Is basically best dedicated for an off road oriented vehicle, not a daily. These were oem on my Willys Gladiator couple years ago. 1 month they were off the truck. Havent driven everything but hope this helps.

How is mileage between the recon and ridge? I had ridge grapplers on my 17 and they killed my mpg compared to G2
Had nitro terra grapplers on my old LR3 and absolutely loved them
I have a set of TG G2 on a Ford 4WD pickup and love them. About 15k miles and still great treadlife left. Will definitely purchase Nitto again
I’m waiting for them to cut to the chase and release the Bro Grappler.
That’s what brad n chad do on the weekends
I think it's coming out for the holidays in Brovember!
@@CampusautoCo it says in the brosure you have to have a visor hat and blonde tips to buy the tires
Just in time for some 4Xfrotting... 4X4 I mean
It could happen LMAO!!!!!!!!

Thanks for that overview !
Very helpful in what I'm putting on my f150.
Recon Grappler.

How did they affect MPG?
@@1hasbeen531 I went with factory size tire so far no mpg drop
I was thinking about getting then for Land Rover Discovery sport. The tire guy is trying to talk me out of it but I’ve read a lot of great reviews
@North Jersey Kevin we are bout 7 months in with nitto they have been great so far no complaints ride smooth & quite perform great in rain / snow
I just got Nokian Outpost AT. I love them so far and can't wait for the snow to fall.
How do you like the outpost at's?

I’d like to see the Toyo AT3 and Recon grappler compared. I know they’re sister tires but there seems to be some significant differences.
I love your tire reviews dude! Thank you for helping me make a very informed decision!
Glad you like them! Thanks for watching.
I just bought the Recon grappler in 295/55/20 for my 2022 Ram 1500. Love them
super helpful side by side comparison
I just got me a set of those nitto nomad grappler tires for my crossover suv.
Thanks for that info and comparison
You bet! It's my pleasure! Thanks for watching!

Thanks, you too!
I bought a set of Recon Grapplers yesterday. They ride great with no road noise. It looks like the Tera Grappler G2 is discontinued
I have had the Ridge Grappler and i didn't like it in the rain is the Recon Grappler better for the road.... I have a 2022 ford f150
Been running the Terra Grappler and super happy with it. I am thinking about putting the Recon on my new F150, but not so sure about road noise and performance in wet and snow. Any additional info you can add around that would be awesome. I am in the Rocky Mountains of Idaho/Utah/Montana. Thanks.
I hope that they update more of their tires to have 3PMS rating. When is the ridge grappler due for an update?

Hi Matt did you check out the new Terra Grappler G3? What do you think about the Falken Rubitrek?

Great examples. I do mostly hwy. Driving. Would like to see more examples of them.

Is the Terra Grappler G2 considered more aggressive than the Recon Grappler?
What would you suggest for a forester in the Arizona terrain.
Nomad Grappler
I would like to try the Nomads but as my luck would have it, they don't come in my size.
Well done video 😊
Looking to replace my terra grapplers and I want something quiet and smooth just like they are. Would you do nitto reacon grapplers, kenda kevler rt, geolander Yokohamas at? Which would be the whitest and smoothest ride?
Love Nitto…just purchased a Ford Ranger. It will be used strictly for highway use. Recon is not available…would the Terra Grappler G2 be recommended?
Same here.....no stock size Recons for my 2019 Tundra. I was thinking of the Terra G2's also. Mostly highway and towing a boat. With occasional beach driving here on the TX coast. What did u end up getting?
The trail are season tire or no?
Is there any reason why you wouldn’t put a nomad grappler on an F150?
Great video!!
I'm trying to find 4 Terra Grappler G2 tires.
please nomad grappler vs trail terrain t/a, if there's an opportunity.

thanks for the info. i seem to have rushed too. i just realized they don't have them in 275/60/20 so...
Where can I buy Nitto tires in the United States?
Need to do venom power lineup
I will check them out.

none are available for GM full size trucks/Suv with the 22” rims (275-50R22). wish they were
Would the nomad work on a Chevy avalanche
Time to add the new Terra Grappler G3 to compare to Ridge Grappler
We need better side view of the tires.
