A gasser is a vintage drag car that was popularized in the ‘50s and ‘60s. Its name comes from the fact that it runs on gasoline instead of race fuel. Classic gassers are nostalgic muscle cars with large engines that are modified for speed. Nowadays, some people use the term “gasser” to refer to trucks that use gas as opposed to diesel. - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ

I never thought an Elephant could fly much less a 60 Chev. Coupe. Awesome driving on top of it all with a 130 mph in the traps and made a race out of it.
Man, he had to have broke something on that launch.. I doubt that's what he was trying to do. Still stayed in it tho !! 🤘
That 60 is famous for leaving the starting line that way. Been doing it for years. The question is... how do you make it leave like that, and why would you want to?!?

Takes me back to Green Valley and Yellow Belly drag strips in Dfw area in the 70s
I remember the old gassers when I was a young boy, going to the drag strip with my oldest brother and my Father in the early and mid 60s. What fun memories!!! 😎❤️

For those who don't now the straight front axle do's NOT make the car a gasser. The straight axle idea was to transfer weight to the rear axle for better traction. Back in the day the slicks where a some what hard rubber compound not like todays slicks. If it runs on gas then it's a GASSER. If it runs on a mixed fuel then it's NOT a gasser.
..i remember as a 13 year old there used to be a red 67 nova gasser here in New Zealand in the early 90s ..i think it may have been the only gasser at the time ..wish it was mine i have photos of it in my NZ HOT ROD magazines ..i used to draw it 😂

Great cars...great video!! I raced a '67 Chevelle, 327Cu.in. 350 hp. at National Speedway in the 60's and early '70's. It ran 12.68 at best and it was terrific fun!! thank you for the post!!

Only got halfway through ,spending too much time watching the end of the race ,when you need to focus in on the burnouts and the takeoff after that who cares, It’s just they’re bad ass and watching them do burnouts is 90% of it thanks great video

Dont know why that guy with the black 59 chevy dont fix that car so it dont twist like that when he launches it...
You'll notice from 1958 to 1963, all the frames were built that way, I had a '63 Super Sport w 409/425 4sp, the front end always came up twisting like that, left side always came up because of the torque. BTW, if we're on the same page, that's a '60 chev.
My pop long ago had a 2 door white nova the first yr came out. Super light car. Think it was a v 6 inline.
And I seen a 57 chevy station wagon here. Really rare. Stock and old paint.
