It's so awesome to see Marvel Select reviews. Their attention to detail always remind me of the good old Toy Biz Marvel Legends days. Especially with a badass stand like that
@@kenny7209 Eh the plastic packaging looks cheap to me for some reason. I prefer the cardboard surrounding packaging that Legends has, and not the pop-out clear plastic, you know? Although Retro Legends as same thing, and I'm not a fan of those packaging either. Bit of a pain to open and not wreck. I keep all my Legends boxes.
The new upcoming marvel legends 1 barely has any extra effects, they didn't even include the big flame effects the Walgreens one had, yet they increased their prices...
Nope it works if you place him in flight mode at the back of any ff group. Now if your gonna go single file nope but he looks prefect with just a little arranging
@@ebensennett3095 As much as I love X-Men, I'm a classic Spider-Man fanboy at heart, so I think I lean a bit towards John Romita Sr. I think Steve Ditko is also really great, but I actually don't really dig his Spidey art that much; I think Romita Sr. was a better fit for the character. I think Ditko's work on Dr. Strange is his best work.
Awesome review on the Human Torch! You answered ALL of the questions I've had since I pre-ordered him ESPECIALLY about the '4' chestpiece (was hoping to use mine as the WWII Human Torch). Way to go, bro! Now I got a cool WWII Torch coming in!!!
Jim Hammond (the android Human Torch) was THE first Marvel superhero, making his first appearance with Namor The Submariner. He burned Hitler to death, and his body was used to build Vision. He was in Captain America: The First Avenger at the World Expo.
Wait wait wait. Explain. Was the Androids body used to make Vision? Or was Hitler's burned body used to build Vision? Cause that really makes Visions name super funny/problematic.
I think this looks nicer than the new Retro Legends version. But I’m going to have the legends versions of all the other figures. I like that this comes with the base and more flame effects. If I have him in an attack pose I wonder if I could make him work with the others and Galactus?

My problem with this, even though it's appreciated, is that Jim Hammond was always shown as heavier than Johnny. More of an adult body than Storm's young adult figure.
Great review! Tempting figure! The old Tom would have gotten this. I gave all my Selects to my son and don't want to walk back down that road. I'm strictly Legends and Black Series. I want it. I'm not going to get it. I'm doing good. Clean and sober.

From your reviews it is so easy to determine those that fit just a Select scene, or some that are great in a hybrid w/Legends (I'll dual you for the pick of destiny on this one - Select's Rhino is a perfect scale!!!!). I'm going to pass on the Torch (although the android looks giggity-giggity) until Select can complete the FF. I hope Hasbro was watching your Legends Dormammu review and this one - give us oranges and reds and for the love of Aunt Petunia some black lines - but wouldn't a fireball or two hit you in the tenders?
This figure confuses me, in what reason did they had to take such a step back in articulation, look at the inner leg cut, or how it has single jointed elbows and knees. It feels like a step back from what select had been doing.
The figure is too skinny.In the comics,he was not overly pumped up but had some muscles.He is cool only with his accessories and especially the Flying effect!I hope something similar with be added by the version from Hasbro.

Most of the accessories would work with Marvel Legends. Import flame effects cost more than this figure.
Love that John Byrne artwork. Greatest comic artist ever.
I can't decide between John Byrne, Jack Kirby, or John Romita Sr., but those 3 are definitely the very best IMO

I really like translucent features, or figures, and I'm a Marvel Select collector. I almost feel like I shouldn't even question getting this.
I don't buy Marvel Select, but I would get it for the accesories alone.
Have to admit, an ML android Human Torch is very tempting--hope they are planning that release as a variant to their FF Torches.

When select gets it right it blows it out of the park...found this guy for 30$ at a comic store and hes easily one of my favorite display pieces
Best torch figure to date. Flames on top of head should be more yellow to distinguish it from the head. Or a little less flame effect.

Marvel/diamon select is ALWAYS a HIT-OR-MISS for me. This is most deff a HIT

Yes you can. He's just fine with other legends as long as he's in flight mode as he should be.
