      I agree and disagree but respect it. In my taste especially w/ TDG 1st 2 albums it was just so raw for me as a kid coming into hard rock I got into them for that but loved linkin park for over all creativity

      TDG and Linkin Park are 2 of the only bands from that era to still be popular. I used to think TDG were just another buttrock band but I started listening to them again like a year ago and realized they're a lot more than that and actually pretty good.

      I completely agree!💯 I more or less shared a post about the same topic! Explaining with Three Days Grace and why Adam Gontier left the band because struggled with addiction and started a new project with a christian rock band❤ Matt Walst was the 2nd lead singer and was critized the second he joined the band...(peoplease are too shallow)
      Then mentioned exactly what you wrote about Linkin Park and the late Chester Bennington and made a very bold and risky choice in having a female singer. Even I was shocked with my jaw dropping to the floor! I personally think that it was a very courageous choice and I applaud them! No Chester won't come back and rejoin like Adam Gontier from Three Days Grace but I believe that he's there watching their new singer and smiling because she can slay it!

    It might sound super corny, but "I Hate Everything About You, Why Do I Still Love You" helped frame the need to process complex emotions for a young generation that was otherwise being raised into what was becoming popularly performative social media and reality television. Three Days Grace gave a lot of people some good ol' rock-angst bangers with the hopefulness of navigating the angst and emotions, and growing.
    I say this as someone that hasn't really listened to *any* full albums from that band, but select songs have been deeply replayed throughout the years, to help me get through some _very_ long nights and emotional drives.

I knew the names of every single band member and (relax, i was 9) even found some of their family members and what not on facebook (ik its creepy in hindsight, again i was 9). If it werent for them, I would absolutely not be a music fan probably let alone metalhead. Three Days Grace was like the evil twin I secretly hung out with behind Switchfoot's back. While Switchfoot was all sunshine, hope, and “you got this!” energy, Three Days Grace was dark, brooding, and made you want to flip off everyone who didn’t get you.
    It was like the perfect soundtrack for the angsty shift from nu metal to emo, with both bands riding the wave of early 2000s rock. Switchfoot’s “Meant to Live” had me ready to conquer the world at 12, while “I Hate Everything About You” was the anthem for my middle finger to the universe.

    • @bldfalcon
      @bldfalcon 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Switchfoot and Red really helped Christian bands get noticed in the mainstream. Skillet as well. Radios will just play their music normally and most people that I know really liked them without knowing their faith.

    • @Meyer-gp7nq
      @Meyer-gp7nq 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Meyer-gp7nq I wouldn't really consider Three Days Grace as in the same boat as bands like Flyleaf, Red, and Skillet really; they never had any songs with that sort of message.

    they were very catchy and punchy, not straying too far into the obscure, very safe listen. they definitely sparked allot of interest in the early 00s for metalcore (and eventually emo), as the aesthetic and messages they sang pushed allot of us into bands like atreyu, killswitch, sevendust, and then later into emo bands like saosin, thrice, and later, asking alexandria, and the following post hardcore stuff. My wife and I both followed a very similar path in our music interest, starting with metallica and ozzy and megadeth, graduating to bands like three days grace and system of a down, linkin park, korn, etc. and then moving through the list. I think we were both blessed to have parents who welcomed lineups from ozzfest and other festivals alike. but three days grace is as essential for the very early 00s angsty tweens as bullet for my valentine was.

    I remember when I got my driving licence back in 2011, going on vacation in south-west France, blasting Three Days Grave on the road, the ocean by my side... Man, the memories. Things were tough, but they were easier to comprehend. One X is the best album to me. I kissed my first love with Over and Over on my computer shitty speakers. I exorcised my anger in highschool listening to Animal I Have Become.
    I was already into heavier stuff, but Three Days Grace was probably in the same spot in my heart as Sum 41. I'm a Deathcore dude, now, but I have no shame thinking about my musical roots TwT

    As someone who got started with alternative music via Green Day & Three Days Grace back in the day, and now loves knocked loose (got super into metalcore/deathcore a couple years after GD/TDG), I can confirm the TDG to KL pipeline does indeed exist.

    I grew up around these guys, Most of them live local to me still, Its insane how much the local stations played them back in the high days, & no one had any hate towards them or seemed to have any jealousy (That ive ever noticed) More proud of these guys being locals
    Its always been such a inspiration to every local band of every genre from country to obscure metal bands

    I'm glad you're drawing attention to these guys. I realized ~a few years ago how deep and incredibly impressive their catalog of hits is. Now I will admit that some of that could be because I'm Canadian, and our media has Canadian-Content laws, so I would have received more exposure than most... but the reality is that these guys pumped out some bangers. Other Canadian hard(er) rock acts absolutely worth a listen are Moist and Billy Talent - both doing very well on our charts in their day.

    it's funny--as a young kid playing guitar in my room learning technical riffs and trying to sweep and shred; now i'm 33 and i don't remember most of those sweeps and licks and more of these kind of songs from my childhood. probably nostalgia talking, but three days grace was definitely a part of it

    My favorite band growing up, can definitely say their music helped me get through a rough time in my life. Hearing Adams cover of In The Air Tonight in person is one of my favorite memories. They should have changed their name when Adam left though, it's really just My Darkest Days 2.0

    You should’ve brought up Adam’s new band Saint Asonia. It sounds exactly like Three Days Grace which says a lot about how a singer can truly make a difference when it comes to a band. They’re really good and deserve more credit and appreciation.

    I was in a freshman in High school when Transit of Venus came out, I definitely remember listening to it tons when it first came out it was heavily on my rotation, especially having grown up listening to them on the radio, watching all the music videos and everything, I was a big fan at the time. After hearing the news that Adam was leaving, I think it made me appreciate the 4 albums we had a lot more. Cause there wasn't going to be any REAL new 3DG material, while I did enjoy Human, it was definitely on a downslope compared to their previous work. Barry's a great composer but you could totally tell that Adam carried the band. I listened to tons of Saint Asonia when they came out but what they had before was pure magic.

    So weird that they are considered emo, they were right there with Chevelle and those other pseudo-alternative numetal bands. Emo is a term that just has been totally butchered anyways, it means pretty much nothing in particular anymore.

      @@mramisuzuki6962 Haha, fair. I remember when we were discussing if Cursive was emo waayyyy back in the day, and now I hear "emo" and it's either pop-punk or numetal. The very things it very much wasn't. God damn Getup Kids and "Something to Write Home About". I blame that album for emo aligning to pop punk. I also love that album. We're all to blame.

    First discovered three days grace from playing smackdown vs raw 2007 and i remember specifically looking up the songs from the soundtrack on my pc and it being one of the first times i went out of my way to look up and discover new music. That soundtrack is pretty much what made me branch off into other genres. I grew up listening to rock and metal because of my parents when i was younger but i didnt go out of my way to get into the music until i got really into svr and fell in love with the game, i was obsessed with that game and it sounds cheesy but it changed my life it allowed me to discover other things that i really ended up enjoying.
