Just play them in order to get the best experience, many people will say you don't need to but some games spoil previous games like if you start with the Crossbell Duology, they spoil major events of the Sky Trilogy which is where you should start. Also Cold Steel 3, 4 and Reverie should not be touced before finishing all previous games.
I’ve got quite a bit to play before this I just recently got into the series I’ve only played cold steel 1,2 and I’m on 3 now definitely didn’t think the series would grab me like it did
Played the japanese version all the way through. It's the best game in the series for me right now. I'm definitely getting this version, too, as i enjoyed the series a lot with cold steel 1-4 and Hajimari no kiseki. Crimson sin is also pretty great, based on what I've played of that game(the sequel to daybreak). Way better cast that the cold steel cast imo, except for Juna. She's my favorite character in the cold steel cast besides a few others.
Length I'd say is close or within the range of cold steel games, but I skipped some dialog at the time, so I'd say 60 to 80 or a slight bit more for the hours. The gameplay and progression system are way better than the cold steel games and reverie imo, as they work similar to other games in the series, but feel way different and more fluid with more flexibility. It's something you'll have to experience yourselves in order to really understand how well it plays compared to the other games.
@@leatherwolf7481 It took me over 100 hours for each Cold Steel game some were 120 hours some close to 140, I always tried to do every sidequest and complete every character entry, recipes, fish and monster entries as well though. Yes. They very clearly made this one for newcomers. Sure, you won't >get everything, but why does that even matter? The cast and narrative will still perfectly resonate with you.

The demo is not. The full game is already available for purchase on Steam (and has been for over a year) and will be updated on July 5 to support the English localization.
Do i really have to play all the cold steels just to understand everything? Or can i just get a quick synopsis from a youtube video and then play this one lol
Usually the start of each arc you can play without the previous games. There are going to be a few references from those previous arcs, but not to a point it can ruin your enjoyment. Not sure how Daybreak 2 is but I know their latest game coming out this year is going to have many returning characters from previous arcs so if you want that full experience then I’d recommend going back after and playing the sky games, crossbell duology, the cold steel games, and reverie. But if you simply don’t care or the graphics turns you away then you can try finding summaries. But again it won’t really be the full experience compared to you having actually played those games.
it is turn based. with quite a few improvements compared to the previous games' gameplay, but still turn based at its core. That's literally the mark of the series gameplay wise, no reason to change that.
