Sometimes I think that you two are more 'English' than I am...lol. Its so refreshing for someone from another country to come and live here, embracing our culture and appreciating it, actually showing off the best bits to others who might not have the opportunity to see it for themselves...especially when your mother country is also so very beautiful if not more so. ... Since I have never owned a home, I have never faced such decisions. However, I can appreciate the fact that your heads were spinning at this juncture. So many decisions to be made!
Dear, sweet Kirsten and Jörg. I'm sure you will have a beautiful kitchen. If I were you, but I'm an architect, I am hardcore, I would try to completely tear down the thin (I think non-supporting?) wall (with the green sliding door) to the little room, in order to have a real window, and then completely reorganize the floor plan (layout). Even a little window in a kitchen is a cool thing (to me). Hugs from Sue, an architect. But I'm obsessed by fresh air, I often open the window in my kitchen, and I allways want to look outside. Küsschen!
Thank you! We're not planning to tear down any walls I'm afraid - luckily we do have a huge opening skylight in the kitchen right above the extractor. This part has very high ceilings and so many windows in our extension. We also have access to the patio right from the kitchen where we can leave the door open too :)

Oh this would be a dreamland for me....I love the planning and the picking out and the installing and in the end meeting in person the dream we started with. 🧡 The planning, although it can be mind boggling, is the foundation as with all foundations it needs to be a solid secure one as from it your dream will become a beautiful reality. Your love of decor and your knowledge of it will I am sure present you with the kitchen area of your dreams. 👩❤👨

So excited for you both! DeVOL is the dream. I've been designing kitchens for years, love working out the layout of all the components. Hope they give you other options, and try to incorporate the existing pantry into the design. When choosing the cabinet color, take into account your beautiful Burleigh pieces, etc., but you know that. All the best to both of you.

I’m sorry to say, I love your old kitchen. The only changes I would make are the tile backsplash and the countertops. I even like that lovely shade of green. Just my humble opinion.

We wish you just the best with your move. Love a blue kitchen, so perfect when you live by the coast. We stayed at a gorgeous cottage in Cornwall last year and the blue kitchen there was so dreamy.

I would make all of your lower cabinets for drawers. I have had 2 kitchens with drawers below instead of the cabinets and it is so much easier to see what you have inside. Pot and pans work well in the drawers. Saves you from getting down and looking for something. It is a game changers.

I’ve had two kitchens gutted and redone and the decision making is always a challenge. Because kitchens and bathrooms are so expensive you want to be happy with the choices but they should also be timeless. My first kitchen I lived in the house for 10 years before remodeling so I knew exactly how I wanted the layout. My second and current kitchen was done immediately after moving in and 10 years later I want to make changes. I’m not happy with the upper cabinets or the countertops. I’m hoping I can have it redone later this year.
The little three legged table with the cloth covering that you both liked is called a gypsy table, I was looking at them online just the other day. Good luck with the project, my only thought as I sit here with a bad back is drawers not shelves where you can 😂👍 good luck with it x
In the U.S. , the wall that supports the building is called a load bearing wall. The Peacock chair is called a Princess chair in the Philippines and is made of wicker or rattan.

Oh the fun of planning a pretty new kitchen! Oh, the mess of demolition, and the making of a temporary kitchen that isn't very temporary, and the dust....all forgotten when the new kitchen is finished!

Here, in my town, within the United States, we have what’s entitled a Re-store. Thousands of people donate, not only bits and bobs, but beautiful antique furniture, unused wall covering rolls, material, furnishings, hardware, and the list goes on. Since I love to reuse things and since older things seem to have been made with more integrity, I often stop at the Re-store first when researching a project. I’m sure you two would have a wonderful time visiting one of our Re-stores. I can’t wait to see what clever decor schemes you both come up with while renovating your kitchen and utility room spaces.😊

I totally agree with drawers in the lower cabinets!! When we built our house we chose full extension drawers.

The only thing on the plan I did not see well enough if you will have or not enough countertop space to do the food preparation. Just a suggestion to take it into consideration. I sincerely hope you do not touch your breakfast nook. The view of your table with your artwork on the wall and your fabulous eclectic candles is a view I adore. The lampshades might be by textile designer Cressida Bell. I think she's the grand-daughter of artist Vanessa Bell of the Bloomsbury Group. She uses those 'Bloomsbury/Charleston Farmhouse' designs a lot.

Hi Kirsten, enjoying watching your new remodel … I am a kitchen designer and you should consider removing the wall to the dining nook and adding built in cabinets all along the back dining wall with cabinets below as well with a nice countertop…it would not look so broken up.
Also add upper cabinets in glass on the sink wall. They really did not explore the full potential of your space well. And all the designer has done is move the cooker, the dishwasher and the laundry
Also get all Miele appliances they are much much better than BOSCH…ANYWAY just some pointers to consider
It will be beautiful. Redoing a kitchen can be a challenge for awhile especially when appliances aren't available for a week or 2. But just accept it and eat out a lot. You may even need to wash laundry at a launderette a couple times. It will be worth it.
Thanks so much! Oh yes, our washing machine broke down a while ago and we were using a launderette for about 2 weeks. Somehow it was funny as we felt like teenagers lol.

I like your kitchen as it is at the moment, maybe not the colour, but fitting for your house. I have the same worktop and yes, it was not overly expensive, but I have cared for it and still looks good. But horses for courses and good luck with your exciting new kitchen. Thank you for sharing this exciting new project! Just a remark. You currently have a wonderful wide prep space which you will loose by dividing it up with stove in the middle. As always your content is so esthetical and wonderfully filmed and very entertaining. Toll, i love it.
Thank you! Actually we don't have a wide prep space, the worktop is very shallow and the deVOL ones are a lot deeper. There will also be a worktop opposite and a big one in the utility room so all is fine.
I am so excited for this change for you! we just did a major kitchen renovation and it was horrible to live through but it is SO LOVELY now. DeVol was a huge influence in my cottage kitchen.
