I joined an ancient Bristol tradition - the St Mary Redcliffe Pipe Walk

In 1190 a two mile water pipe was built from a spring in Knowle to Redcliffe, and a tradition arose of annually walking the pipe's route. In 2022 I decided to join the party.

I was involved in the design of the Water Maze all those years ago. We had the City Engineers involved as well as well as the Bristol Dowsers. Good to see people are still taking an interest in the pipe.

I lke your vids, top marks for all your research and pictures. What I really like, is the fact of discovery, the feeling that there is stuff around us that reeks of forgotten history, and 'hidden' secrets behind the apparently mundane and ignored we walk past on a daily basis

As someone who's lived around the area for years and walked past most of these landmarks for school, college and then work I really took this for granted and only steadily pieced together what it was for (and still didn't realise what the water 'maze' was based on until this video)

Nice to see you cover this one. Until I moved last year, I had an allotment at Springfield, I just caught the corner of my plot in the video. I always loved the spring down the steps. That whole part of Northern slopes was utterly unknown until the covid lockdowns. I spoke to plenty of people only a few streets away that didn't know about it.
