    Coming off the original slicks and switching to these this year. Picked up the 4.0, maybe a 3.0 too. Pretty excited to see how these perform in the river and ocean!

    Do you have a comparsion between the 2023 Slikc an the 2024 Units?
    I love boom and your review sound quite toooo good.
    For me it's essential to have very good power in low end and big range.
    Riding on a gusty lake in germany with partly less wind (8 - 12 knots) and days from 10 - 30 knots...
    Winging only since 3 month wiht a slingshot javelin and searching for wing with big range and great low end power.
    Thanks for your opintion.

    Great review, very good riding clips! I agree, this wing is mental and the low end is remarkable

    Hello, guys.
    Thank you for amazing videos and reviews in the channel (watched your 360 tutorial videos). Would you mind to share some tips, drills to practice to help avoid unfortunate crashes that can hurt the rider or the equipment?
    Do you think dedicating a few sessions just to do simple jumps with focus on always ducking the knees to solidify muscle memory can be useful?
    For example, my recent unfortunate experience
    I've just recently started getting into jumps/tricks (5-6 sessions ago), last 3 sessions I started practicing 180 rotations (mostly toe side airjibe). Today have landed few clean ones toe side, got some confidence and decided to try regular airjibe (backside). Eventually during one of the jumps (I think) I didn't tuck my knees enough, still completed 180 rotation, but when landing had more pressure on toeside, lost balance, naturally my felt body forward as a result board flipped over and the foil damaged the middle section of the wing (np, will be soon repaired)
    Having your experience right now, how would you approach learning the things from scratch in a "safer" way? Would be happy to hear how do you approach the trainings when learning new things?

      hey! awesome to hear you’re getting into the world of freestyle and jumping! we will definitely consider a video like this and especially something more for the beginner side of learning this stuff.
      right off the bat i would recommend that you do not let go of the wing. letting it go is what makes it flop around and can make it land on your foil, so do not let go of the wing when foiling. also make sure you dont have a board leash so you can get that foil far away if needed! next id recommended you go for the 360 over the 180 because its actually an easier landing due to the direction of the foil re-entering the water. but definitely get comfortable with jumping before going further with freestyle!

    Duotone recently added the Dlab Slick, would you say the Dlab is a lot better ? waiting on that front flip and 720 tutorials btw !!

    • @alex-merts
      @alex-merts  ปีที่แล้ว

      D-Lab slick is going to hold geometry significantly better which will basically take the things we already like about this wing and crank it to 11! i think the real benefits will be noticeable on larger sizes and in lighter winds. they will have even better low end! looking to get our hands on some ;)

    Hey guys, nice review and some sick action on the water! 👍
    Would you say that the new Slicks are as fast and have equal hangtime as the Units V3? I’m coming from Units V2 and I’m not sure whether to order the units V3 or the new slicks.

    • @frankbingel5504
      @frankbingel5504 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      just my five cents / other argument pro the new Slick - it has 4 mini battens compared to the old SLS and new Units V3 keeping the profile in shape and generating more power & lift in combination with the awesome MOD3 canopy.

    • @alex-merts
      @alex-merts  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Fabian! Having used the Unit V3 and the 2023 Slicks, we would highly recommend the new slicks. like Frank mentioned, the inclusion of the two extra battons goes a LONG way to improving high range stability of the wing. These wings are just as fast as the units in terms of down the line speed, and “snappeir” in terms of handling. The units spin faster, but these are more controllable. The units also have slightly more boost capability, but its at the point where it has sent us higher than we felt comfortable and was tipping into the uncontrollable range. The new slick has PLENTY boost and is still entirely controllable. Hope that helps! :)

      I had the Unit V2 and now the 2023 Slick, slick is significantly better. Also I'm now obsessed with the boom.
