To start I want to quote an old feminist saying ... "Women are born, ladies are made" as a pro feminist male, I fully support the outlook of this documentary ... As a consequence of reading Gail Newsham's book in the mid 1990s it made me research further into the "hidden/forgotten history" of female football. This documentary shows the negative legacy of that Sexist ban by The F.A. from 1921 to 1971, this why we are here regarding female football ... Just think for a moment if the ban never happened ... each established Male football club could have adopted a female team under there own club, thus having a Male & Female team with the same support ... The club would have prospered and each gender team could flourish . We in England would have been World Leaders in Women's Football in a domestic and International context ... Because of the Ban, the Shame still falls on The F.A.
David Cummings they got it right in America and look at them go now. The F.A. have always been a bunch of sexist f*cks and I think they’re actually afraid of what women’s football could actually achieve if allowed to flourish. At least we get a short slot on the beeb on a Sunday night now. Men’s football is becoming more absurd by the day ( and the racists are back in force). A good women’s game has everything we’ve lost and I’m encouraging more people to go
So the rules changed, and the team didn't meet the standards the leagues rules outlined and was relegated. This isn't something new. This happens in all leagues in all countries, relatively frequently. How is this different? They're women, right. Then we really have to care a lot. The rules about financial stability are there in part to protect the players. It's not more than a couple years ago here in Denmark that a womens handball team was asked to play without salary, because they club couldn't afford them. The minimum requirements when it comes to stadiums and budgets are there for a reason. If your womens team is so damn important, raise money. I'm sure companies would love to sponsor you. As a player, if the club can't afford you professional football, I'm sure other clubs can. And if you're good, they will. "We got demoted for non-footballing reasons." You could take that purist stance, but what we're talking about here isn't "football", it's "professional football". You can play. No one is preventing you. You just can't get paid... So finance and pro football are intertwined. You fail at the financial part, you fail at the footballing part. You can't seperate the two.
I am a Man United women fan. It breaks my heart to see that this has happened to the Sunderland ladies. Hopefully they will be in the WSL sooner than later. They deserve it....
That is because people don't want to watch womens football ofcourse. You're really saying that companies refuse to do sponsorship contracts with them because they're women? It's because they're bad at football and therefore no one watches it. Top level womens football is about the same as 5th or 6th tier mens football. The women are neither being overpaid or underpaid. They're getting exactly what they deserve.
@@n2cable you're an idiot the guy just told u the talent is the same as the 5th or 6th tier therefore no talent no money . You're saying the talent is there it's not it's pathetic so the money is pathetic.

Sport shouldn't have anything to do with gender, it should be how many fans and the highest quality to be supported and televised, and honestly womens football and majority of women's sports which compare to mens are not even a fraction of the quality mens show, I don't understand why there is a documentary about this when an u14s mens Sunderland team could breeze past this womens side
In response to you narrow minded comment you egotistical, misogynistic human (@ me if you don't understand these words). Sports doesn't really have anything to do with gender, it only becomes and issue when people like YOU pipe up and make comments about things you don't understand. Women sports are compared to males, unfortunately, and do not get the coverage they deserve, I'm sure every single one of these women could get a ball passed you with their eyes closed. Women’s football, men’s football,...it’s just football- the simplest game, the world game. This isn’t a moral argument, fans shouldn’t be judged for choosing what they like! The infra held the game from being better not being comparable to the men’s cuz that was never going to happen.
@@sumomaster5585: Dude, if the women's game was "never going to" be comparable to the men's, then why bother putting your finger on the scales SO THAT women's football couldn't move forward? The only thing that is wrong is them going on about not being able to be paid to play, there are plenty of men that have the exact same struggle, the elitist in both men and women's gat paid fairly for the revenue streams that come in, and it filters down to each league.
