I wore those Johnson pants all last year and I am still wearing them scouting. They are the best wool pants I have owned so far. I have worn them in 70 degrees and down in the teens.
Great video!!! Always good to hear and see what other guys systems are comprised of. I go slightly different as I do a ton of bow hunting and use a saddle for that but being from Maine I’m a wanderer too!!!! Base layers for me are Kuiu 120 1/4zip merino hoody top. Kuiu 145 zip off bottoms. Wear the top yr round and it’s easily the best piece of hunting wear I’ve ever bought!!! Tops are basic for me an LLBean button up jack shirt with the the Kuiu top is all I wear 90% of the time. For extra cold day I ad either an LLBean heavy weight wool guide sweater or a Cabelas heavy weight wool sweater with wind stopper. Bottoms are easy too. Early season Kuiu guide pro pants which for still hunting with a little care are great but they can but a little slappy if your not careful but they have a great fit, built in knee pads for when I’m in saddle but they come in handy when still hunting and you have to go under a bunch of stuff too. They also have heat dump vents on sides of legs that help a ton when on long hikes. I wear the Kuiu zip off base layers as the weather gets colder which are great for those days that start off in the 20’s but end up in the 40’s. You just drop pants down and zip down legs and base layer is off. Putting them back on is that easy too. They are the light weight version so I can ball them up in my hand so literally can put them in my cargo pocket if I had too. For cold weather pants I like almost all northern hunters I have two sets of green wool pants. One set an old pair of light weight Codet and a mid weight Beagle wear. Gotta be cold though and in southern Maine that’s a rare occasion these days. They are proven though and easily the quietest thing you can wear so if it’s going to be a tracking day or a for sure stalking day I’ll have these at the ready. Darn tough and minus 33 socks with a sock liner. This is super important for me as the sock liner pulls all moisture away from my skin. Now Im different when it comes to boots as I hate rubber boots and only wear them when absolutely necessary!!!! I wear Hoffman and Kenetrek mountain hunter boots. My water proof solution is to wear boot gaiter and slip them under my pants and blouse my pants around my ankles. As long as I’m not standing still in river or stream for a few minutes I’ve not had any troubles with feet getting wet. Good luck shed hunting!!!!!
The boots are made in China, they wear out easily, I buy at least 2 pairs a year, the model I prefer has no traction and the company isn’t willing to listen to any feedback to make improvements
Ok. I find LaCrosse rubberboots (Grange) great to wear and I see your point of view. Hopefully the company will listen to your advice!!! Thanks for the great videos of yours showing us your rubberboots. All the best!
I'm headed to Johnson Mills in a few weeks to stock up for next winter. I love the ride from MA and there are many stops to and from to hit along the way
How is the sizing on those Northwoods Wool pants? I normally wear a 32/32 but my hunting pants I normally get in a 34/32 so I can tuck in a wool button up.
Great video, the new Johnson wool pants have cargo pockets? When will they be released? Went to the Johnson Wool store last year, purchased wool coat & vest. Great product!
Excellent Video! Really well done. I think you forgot to tell us about the boots you wear, because we all know that you're not out there in just your socks! :)
😂 I intentionally didn’t mention it because I didn’t want to give any attention to the brand of boots I wear. I’m disappointed in the boots I’ve been buying for years and the experience I’ve had when reaching out to the company
Interesting to see what other people wear in Maine in the winter. I swear by alpaca wool socks and the LL Bean waterfowl wool pullover. But a lot of what you showed here isn’t made for women, so my options are limited.
Good question, I didn't mention in because I'm too disappointed in the company that is making them, but I wear knee height rubber boots (green ones...)
I have a great pair of Schnee's unlined rubber bottoms with leather tops in size 12 that don't fit anymore due to an ankle replacement, yours if they'd fit. Quite a bit better than the Bean's version.@@TheMaineWoods

Very interesting! You are well organized and prepared!
Lol, not really, it takes me many attempts to make something like this
I wore the Stagr long johns all year as well with their jacket and gloves. Love that stuff. Great video
Right on

I have a pair of LLBean wool pants and also use their waterfowl wool sweaters. Love them. Eventually want to try some other brands
👍
That's very nice, and well organized 👍🏻
Thank you
Very informative, I'm gonna have to invest in some more wool products in the near future so this is super helpful, Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Great video. And not to forget your excellent choice of rubberboots!!!!

There are definitely more options for women becoming available
Can you show the modifications to your chest harness?
Any updates on the cabin project? Have you been to the property lately?
What footwear, boots do you wear?
Good question, I didn't mention in because I'm too disappointed in the company that is making them, but I wear knee height rubber boots (green ones...)
@@TheMaineWoods I know how that is, thus my question
If it’s the boot company that I think it is, I ordered a pair two years ago. I returned them due to substandard construction and fit.
@@skline1398 Check out lacrosse grange boots. Great for hunting in the snowy conditions of the Northeast.
Where can i buy those parts? Good information. 👍

Have you tried @origin nano wool or stealth wool?
Nope, have you?
Which model Garmin Rino do you use?
I don’t, I use the onxhunt app on my phone
What about them suspenders? Why do I find those?
what size boots do you wear?
9 why do you ask?
