Not knowing that buzzbait is gonna get crushed when it comes out the pads, not knowing that hawg is gonna nail my jig right after I pull it over that lay down, bein surprised when your rod loads up slow rolling a spinnerbait. That’s what I love about fishin, I don’t wanna know either Randy
Appreciate your takes Randy. You're not just an angler, but also a naturalist. My style of fishing is wading small creeks and rivers. I might get 2 bass or 20 bass but a big part of the draw for me is to be outside and unplugged from my devices.
I have a boat, but I find my self wading in my local creek for smallmouth to be more enjoyable these days. ALL of my local lakes are so pressured by tournaments and weekend warriors. It’s just not fun anymore. You can’t even get slack water anymore with all the boats flying around. Meanwhile I can wade a creek for 3 miles and never see another person.
What is the line in the movie a League of their own, "it just got too hard. It is supposed to be hard, that is what makes it great. If it wasn't hard everyone would do it". That is how I look at bass fishing and when you start using FFS it isn't hard anymore, it isn't fun anymore. The best analogy is what you have said many times before, it is the same as spot lighting deer at night.
Part of the thrill of fishing is not knowing if there is a fish there or not. Nothing like retrieving a spinnerbait past a log or clump of grass and watching it disappear. Your right Randy. The thrill is gone with ffs.
MAKE FISHING GREAT AGAIN! No livescope in tournaments! No dragging fish around in the deadwell all day! Catch and release! Stop the destruction of the bass population!
Thought the Christmas present analogy was perfect. I know FFS doesn't catch the fish for you ,but I don't understand how you feel any sense of accomplishment using it.
The guys that say that ask them what they have learned, you'll get a dumv response of stuff we already knew, even clunn has never stated what he has learned, everyone has known fish live offshore no shocker there.

Just because you’re mad doesn’t mean everyone else is! I want to see you fish not complain on every video about the fish finders. Please make some fishing videos! Thanks Jeff!😊
Not knowing where or when the bite is coming is ....The Excitemnt!! Knowing that where you put the bait is the right spot is half the fun!! Absolutely FFS takes the mystery and challenges out of fishing. It's basically cheating. But as my dad said many times not everyone operates by the same set of morals and ethics. It applies to a lot of areas like the 'sportsman' who think they are hunting on a high fence property...they are not! No matter how high the acreage is they're still 'hunting' in a cage and cheating. And if you golf you know the guys or ladies who don't play the ball as it lies or don't turn in score cards for great rounds to keep their handicap high... they're cheating too. In fishing FFS turns tournament fishing into boring fish catching exhibitions. The average guy or lady with FFS might not be as proficient but I think they're still not working to find fish and even better patterns. They're at best taking the easy way out. FFS is not on my bass boat, never will be because I do want fishing to always present the mystery and challenges it always has. The catches are much more rewarding when you actually fish!
I think that banning rods and reels are a good idea to. Just get you some bamboo rods with some nets on the end,or better yet get you a stick of tnt and throw it in the lake! If my boat has livescope on it then that means I paid money for it,so if the people at these tournaments allow it then use it.
@Johnafinn Ban Randy at this point. He’s such an amazing fisherman, he himself is a cheat code… it’s a shame that FFS came around about 8 years ago and killed his career…. His career that he hasn’t hardly cashed a check in for 12-15 years.

You do you, Randy, and I'll do me. Your way isn't exclusively the "right way". Why are you trying to gaslight everyone that likes FFS by insisting they aren't "real fishermen" and that they don't treasure the sport just as much as you?
I put corn out for deer in my backyard under a green light just to observe the deer because it’s fun, no shooting. How about you just study the fish without a rod in the boat and then leave FFS at home and use your skill to catch fish. Don’t let this technology ruin the skill needed to catch fish much like people don’t need to let hunting in “high fence” steal away what it really takes to get that trophy animal. Do the right thing.

I'm sorry but "different" doesn't equal "wrong". Just because you want fishing to remain this all encompassing mysterious activity where you are 100% surprised every time to catch a fish does not make it the only 'right' way to enjoy fishing. This is exactly the same attitude that has put our country in the condition it is in. "My way or the highway" as we used to say. It's hyperbole to espouse that just because we're using tech like FFS that that somehow will guarantee that we'll end up in a world where everything is known WRT bass fishing. Live bait is just different. It doesn’t even guarantee every catch either. Plent of people enjoy catching fish that way…. It doesn’t belong in professional tournaments. On ANY level. Your analysis is just wrong too. Not every lake can produce 25lb bags but the only tournaments that FFS wasn’t the main factor for the winner in the past two seasons, there were either very extreme conditions like the high dirty water high current win John Cox pulled off on Pickwick or it was during the spawn when sight fishing was the deal anyway. And I would argue that FFS still played into the latter one too. When I was first figuring it out, I took my 9yo just to teach him how to use a baitcaster. He begged me to enter a derby when we got there. The only casts I made were showing him how to cast. I stayed back away from anything wher he could just sling it and not hang up. I didn’t even try to get near any structure. I picked backlashes, played with the graph and pointed occasionally and said throw there. There were enough random bigger fish just cruising out there that he won by over 5 lbs against some local sticks. He couldn’t even cast straight. Occasionally he came close to where I was pointing. He didn’t win because his knowledge and skills were that good. There are kids in high school events right now getting scholarships and sponsor deals, networking with industry insiders that can launch a pro career, just because daddy has a nice graph and does the same thing for his kids in those events. It hurts the sport in multiple ways. We just don’t need it. It shouldn’t matter if some guys like it or enjoy catching fish with it.
thank you!, these guys really trying to act like the technology makes them better fisherman, or that they are learning more is hilarious and just stupid. unless you speak bass you dont know shit, the sonar they are using isnt teaching them anything more than before, its actually teaching them far less. the only thing it does it garauntee that you are throwing in front of a specific fish or school. it has always been 70% skill and 30% luck, with FFS its 20% skill 30% luck and 50% having as close to a live camera as possible in the water.

Nahh youre wrong. FFS is way more exciting than beating a bank.
Just because something is exciting doesn’t mean it’s the right thing to do
@@randyblaukatintuitive agreed. But in the case of FFS you are wrong. Nothing wrong with it you just stink using it.
Ban ffs, bed fishing and tournaments. All are disgraceful to the sport.
thank you!, these guys really trying to act like the technology makes them better fisherman, or that they are learning more is hilarious and just stupid. unless you speak bass you dont know shit, the sonar they are using isnt teaching them anything more than before, its actually teaching them far less. the only thing it does it garauntee that you are throwing in front of a specific fish or school. it has always been 70% skill and 30% luck, with FFS its 20% skill 30% luck and 50% having as close to a live camera as possible in the water.
