I love tinctures and teas. Thyme tincture is good for sickies. Earache oil can be made with oil dried garlic and dried Mullien. I mean you can do a ton with herbs. The world is our oyster when it comes to herbal remedies lol. Just always make sure you know what your harvesting and research.

I harvested my echinacea for the first time this year! I am growing horseradish this year as well to make an antiviral tonic. I will use vinegar, jalapeños, garlic, onion and the horseradish. You can add honey to it to make it palatable 🥰
I made some of this earlier this year. I have taken it a few times when I feel like a cold is coming on. I'm not going to lie. This stuff is nasty tasting but I kid you not. I never got a cold and I really do believe it works so well. Will definitely be making this from now on for my family!
My Echinacea is always so beautiful, every single place I've lived, I've grown some, mainly because it is so easy too. I have never made a tincture though, I've dried it and used it to make tea, but never thought about a tincture, I'm gonna try it, I'll let you know, how well it turns out. Hello, from MT! I love making tinctures, my favorite one is horehound, oregano and elderberry tinctures, but make may others, for children I use a food grade organic glycerin with a 50/50 mix with filtered water. I love our herbal closet, filled with dehydrated herbs, tinctures, and salves. I also love making herbal vinegars.
I make a plantain and comfrey oil for winter weary hands and any bruises that occur in daily homestead life. Will definitely try this tincture this year

I actually have Wild Lettuce Seeds about 50 of them I'm going to plant and then dry and encapsulate and use for myself since my knees are hurting at night. They told me you'll need a knee replacement by the time your 30. Well I'm 45 and it's all God. But I don't have much cartilage. I do alright though. I still run but it's all Jesus for real. Thanks for sharing, I’ll be starting echinacea from seed here in Australia soon to plant out in spring! I have also been foraging dandelion and calendula from our yard to make a salve using my tallow balm as a base. I also like to do elderberry syrup for keeping us healthy in winter.

Even so, I love your beautiful videos--especially what grows well in this type of climate. I have a field full of mullein so will make mullein flower ear oil and dry lots of the leaves for infusions. I haven't made a tincture before, but I make calendula infused oil that I use in salves, as an oil for bath, body and hair. It's my most favorite. I have echinacea growing. I'll have to give this tincture a try.

Not a tincture, but one year I was really, really sick and nothing was helping- not homeopathy, nstural meds, antibiotics etc.. I'd been sick for 6 weeks. And indian told me to use some of my mint to make a poultice for my chest and keep it on for 2 hours and then change for a fresh one for two more hours. I did that and by the end of the 4 hours was starting to cough stuff up for the first time. By the next day, I was well on my way to getting well. My sister used this successfully when she had pneumonia once too.

I just moved into my new house in Wisconsin and just found several of these plants in the landscaping the previous owners had planted. I was so happy when I found this and have been wondering how I can harvest this beautiful plant for medicinal purposes!

I ordered bay leaves from an Etsy shop in Greece and they sent a small sample of dried Mullein - I didn’t know what to do with it -at the time - and figured the place was a spice shop so I seasoned chicken with it - was Delish!!🤗

I wish I could make this! But alas, we moved to our home last fall, I'm working with a first year garden. My cone flowers are only about 6-10 inches high and are not big enough to harvest. There is always next year though!

I’d be careful gathering unless you know exactly that weird things haven’t been used around the plant..... The plants are fairly inexpensive to buy especially at end of season sales and now abundantly available in many colors. Or start inside. Once planted so easy to grow - lots of sun and water - one of the Only things I can easily grow in very high dessert (almost 6000ft) dry cold winters of Nevada.
Just discovered purple dead nettle for my husbands pretty extreme allergies that make him borderline asthmatic. Going to ask my mom to send me some seeds from the “weed patch” I know is by the barn up in IL, I’ve never seen it here in FL but maybe I can get it to grow!
Dead nettle needs to be kept cooler, it dies off here in Kansas in the heat of summer, but spring and fall it comes back. I harvest and dry in spring and allow it to reseed in fall.(I'm sure it drops plenty seeds when I harvest also...)
@@marthasundquist5761 I figured. Plantain grows down here but only for a few months in the early spring, unlike at my parent’s where it grows all summer. I’ll get ahold of some seeds and see how they do!

For your awareness, echinacea root is the most medicinally powerful part of the plant. Harvest after three years of echinacea augustofolia for actual benefits and not just placebo effects.
