When I listen to “The Rainbow Connection” I have no bills or deadlines. I forget what a gym is. My car’s tires are like new and Creamsicles appear in my freezer.
The song with Barbra was suppose to be included in the Muppet Movie, but for some reason it wasn’t used. It kind of missed it’s chance to be fully appreciated. Now It sounds as if it was just a cover song, even though it was recorded as the original song for the movie.
Great review. I've always liked the more obscure songs she has recorded, hence "Butterfly" being one of my favorite albums..."Rainbow Connection" does sound like two separate tracks, but the message still gets through. I love it. I also appreciate your candor and I have subscribed. Yay!
@@kevinadams4857 I was so young when that album came out, so I didn't even know who David Bowie was. To my young mind I just thought that she was really beautiful and could sing "really good"! I grew up on all of her 70's work and didn't really delve into her early stuff until my teens. Somehow I knew that she was the best.
The Wet album is full of great romantic ballads. I find that "After the rain", "On rainy afternoons" and "Kiss me in the rain" are just as good as "Niagara". The track "Wet" is not bad either. She has perfect control of her voice on that album. I love it!
Make Our Garden Grow will be on "Release Me 47". If you want it sooner, date Jason. I want the studio version of "Somebody Come and Play" from Sesame Street and the 1988 "Unusual Way" from "Nine" (a show she loved for the music and the candy)
Barbra did not spend long on Rainbow Connection; it was slotted in at the end of a session. and she allegedly gave up on it. I don't think Kermit was originally part of the plan.
I think there are comments about the Kermit track from Barbra. This song was originally recorded as a solo in 1979 because Jason, her son, loved the song. I think the "new" Kermit added his vocals to her 1979 track and she might have added in a few 2012 notes. As Jim Henson died years ago, it might be a "replacement" Kermit on this track. Please look into it. But I am 99.4% sure that it is not the Muppet Movie vocal track.
Barbra didnt add in any 2020 vocals of her. And the press release says they used Jim Henson's vocals from 79 too. i imagined they stripped the vocals and put in orchestration from 2020. The mystery is why Matt Vogel is listed as a vocal. It could be they needed him to maybe do some thing harmonically to make it work. My wonder is if they speeded up Barbra's voice a bit. It sounds a little higher than anything from Wet Songbird, etc. Just a tad higher and maybe sped up a bit? I would have preferred just Barbra on this but they are trying to get clicks and streams so it can help on the charts.
Affanassief and his cohorts use alot of studio bells and whistles. In the Patrick Wilson vid package for Loving You he seems super impressed Wilson has a built in autotuner LOL. Re Streisand it really doesnt matter as we all know her abilities now and especially then were limitless. Studio tricks are a choice not a neccessity. Even the 2016 Boston show revealed a singer who could attain amazingly clean, easy and seemingly natural technical excellence. At 74.
@@davegallagherfaith4923 Her voice is in the Not While I’m Around mode. I doubt they sped things up. It’s a sweet pure vocal that benefits from Kermit. Just enjoy the song and don’t overanalyze it. 😀😀
@@davegallagherfaith4923 I agree Dave! I also said they sped up her voice. I listened very carefully to her vibrato, which is sometimes how I can tell which era the recording is from. I think this vocal is a hair faster. Good ear, Dave!
All I can say is what you said: Barbra can duet with anyone. She does her great acting in Rainbow, sounding like an innocent child. She's really good at that. th-cam.com/video/4TkX5C8_8Nc/w-d-xo.html
@@SalRocha I agree that it is a bit disappointing that “make our garden grow” , “moonfall” from the original back to Broadway and the peter Matz’s orchestrated “unusual way” from the Broadway album aren’t on this upcoming release. I was really impressed and taken aback by the childlike lightness of Barbra’s voice on the recording of rainbow connection. When I saw the set list of songs, I thought that rainbow connection was just more filler. Lol

I forget where I am....what I'm doing when she sings. She is everything.
Same here!
Same with me too
I love Rainbow Connection! It's so beautiful!
It really is!
Streisand could recite the alphabet and turn it into a beautiful masterpiece. Been a big fan for over fifty years.
I completely agree!

I love her cover of Is there life on mars! Thanks for subbing!
Life on Mars is so atypical for Barbra, which is why I love it as well. Another gem is Love in the Afternoon.

I love that song too. Make our garden grow.
It needs to be released!
The best song on the "Wet" album is called "Niagara"
I agree. its a stunner.
I haven't heard that one!
@@SalRocha And you’re gay? 🤕 It’s a ballad by Marvin Hamlisch, Carole Bayer Sager, and I think Bruce Roberts.

@Mikey That’s because I like the cover and no more tears enough is enough but I’ve never actually sought out the full album
So sweet pretty and beautiful and dynamic...of Barbra.. Lovely!
Thank you so much for watching!

Gotcha!
🤔 I think "The Rainbow Connection" should've won the best movie song of 1979. 🌈 It's a lovely song.
It surely is!
Does anyone know if it’s possible to find her solo version of rainbow connection. I believe she recorded it but never released
It is still unreleased!
This is the original 1979 duet That was done with Kirmit the flog suppose to be in the movie. Just google it ! Rainbow Connection
Loves it!
Subscribing for this.

Kleenexes for Rainbow Connection. Watched your reaction about 123456 times. Lol
Awe! Thank you very much!
Make our garden grow, the song I¨ve been waiting for decades. How much time will we have to wait ?
IDK! I'm tired of waiting myself!
Date her son and make it Release Me 3; otherwise, you are going to have to wait until Release Me 39
If you love "The Rainbow Connection" then you should check out the version by Karen Carpenter!
It is a real tear-jerker!
Barbra is not Kermit's first duet partner on this song. :)
OK!
