[FAINT: Tier 1] Qyubey - humanity (by hotduck + kernby)

humanity may seem like a rather simple level visually in comparison to most other levels featured in the tourney, with hotduck and kernby focusing much more on properly setting its atmosphere instead of just going for eye catchy VFX; but don't let its simple looks trick you, as this level contains a couple of blinding gimmicks that will require you to pay extra attention to the track, and may give you a hard time if the planets' rotation is your greatest ally when sightreading.

The way this chart's gameplay builds upon itself from beginning to end is nothing short of mesmerizing - laying the basic pattern at 0:16, flashing incoming midspins at 0:25, putting it all together at 0:32. I love how the darkness mechanic forces you to read ahead, breaking the track into recognizable chunks for retrieval when audio is your only reliance (it's no big surprise then that my favorite part is at 0:53 with the modified triangle lmao). You'll need to stay alert once the transitions between patterns gets shifted ever so slightly and the planets start to fade in and out, up until the very end.
While the visuals aren't as flashy as REBIRTH, the atmosphere is where this level really shines, making it feel as though you're traversing an underwater cavern, with "FAINT" lights to guide the way. A certified banger!!
