    Had to stop using Carol's Daughter hair products, like her CoCo Creme and Goddess Strength lines because it was drying the crap out of my hair. After research saw that most of her products contain Isopropyl alcohol🙁. My hair was always dry, breaking, splitting and started looking dull. I also have high porosity hair which made it worse. Found myself constantly needing to trim my ends just about every month. Now that I switched to products that don't contain it my hair has been healthier, shinier and thriving....my favorite moisturizers at the moment is Soultanicals Frizz Whiz leave in, Soultanicals Marula Muru Moisture Guru Butter, Soultanicals Sprout Twisting Butta and Qhemet Biologics Detangling Ghee. Couldn't name just one as they're all equally fantastic for my hair so far

      Yup. I don’t even do research on most of these brands. I go how the hair feels and if it doesn’t feel good I throw it out. I’m usually right on the money and the products I throw out are getting sued and cancelled months to a year later. Hair should feel moisturized 😂 🤷🏽‍♀️ . It shouldn’t feel straight like it’s had a permenant chemical process and it shouldn’t feel dry.

    I was hollering ‘I know, right’ for the whole lecture and feeling proud of myself until you mentioned IPA. Please correct me fast because I do this constantly and as soon as I get a large container of cheap conditioner. I add 91% IPA to the conditioner because I thought the alcohol was no longer bad as long as it was in the conditioner. I feel the difference immediately and I’m high porosity. Tell me what I’ve done to my hair and how to fix it. Also the “maximum hydration method” called for a baking soda and ACV and clay mixture that scared me away and I’d like to get your take on it. Thank you so much for these videos! I share them with my elders during family reunions for an intergenerational ice breaker.

This antifungal helps with seborrheic dermatitis which can be found on your scalp. However there are other products in creams that aren't meant for hair which is a reason why those products shouldn't be used, but people do use them. I'm not sure who, when, where, or how this trend was started, I just know why. It really is a thing.

    Not you starting with the baking soda. I've used it to wash my hair for years as a low porosity girl. I'm not a chemist but I use it diluted either in place of shampoo or before I shampoo. Super cleansing and my hair always absorbs products better after. I've been moving away from the baking soda but only because it's messy and a hassle and I'm trying to shorten my wash days as much as possible. But yeah baking soda was probably my first holy grail 😂😅

    Great video. So…no baking soda?! What about when doing loc detox? Any alternative suggestions?

    • @CurlyChemistry
      @CurlyChemistry  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey! Since my channel is more curly/coily focused I can’t speak to locs that much, locs are a bit different then unlocked hair. However if you have locs and the baking soda detox is working for you then definitely keep using it. Another alternative however can be apple cider vinegar rinses especially since it’s more aligned with the hair’s natural pH.

    Hi. Happy Friday. Currently I’m using ORS olive oil moisturizing hair lotion. Tonya can hydrating facial mist be used on the hair. I have one that has hyaluronic acid and aloe combined and was wondering if I could. In the ingredients it has benzyl alcohol but not the others that you mentioned.

    • @CurlyChemistry
      @CurlyChemistry  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey! The benzyl alcohol makes me a lil hesitant, but it also depends on how much is in it...something like less than 1% won't have much of an affect on the hair, so technically it should be okay to use, however if you notice that you hair becomes dry after using it then discontinue using it on the hair. :-)
