    For everyone complaining about Landon's speed saying this is a boring match to watch, I couldn't disagree more. He is methodical. If you think this is boring you clearly don't have an appreciation for the game itself.

      Agreed. Landon is putting on a 10-ball clinic in this match. Fundamentals are impeccable. Almost every player could learn something by watching Landon.

      Earl is a power player with a massive stroke. He gets rolling and he free strokes so his pace is quick. This young guy like many players not has a routine he goes through which gives him consistency. If you're playing a big match or taking a tough shot a routine settles you because you're focusing on each step of it. I'm like Earl but I play much faster than he does. I used to play really fast to the point I was at the place I was planning to shoot from before the cue ball got there. Running a rack in a minute was not unusual. I feel like that limited me and made me more vulnerable to mistakes and just being really streaky. I moved from New York down south and didn't play for a while. When I can't back to playing I was really rusty so my arm felt like linguini. I choked up on the cue a few inches to shorten my stroke and slowed down a lot. I was playing close to my speed before in a couple weeks but still was not that comfortable yet because the routine made up for the loss of muscle memory a bit. I don't feel like I have to be really on to get out.

      The only radiation that causes cancer is radiation in the ultra violet spectrum, such as gamma. Microwaves are in the infrared spectrum and do not cause cancer. Wireless microwave radiation is benign and completely non cancerous. Only those with hypersensitivity will experience symptoms, which are still non cancerous.

    There are only a hand full of players that I respect more than Landon. Still fewer who I choose to emulate. His mental game is unwavering. His mechanics are FLAWLESS. His accomplishments are to be envied and he is just plain hard to beat under any circumstances. He does not appear to play the circuit much as I have not seen much from him lately, though I could be wrong about that. His pool knowledge is unparalleded and all aspects of his game should be studied if one is serious about improving their game. Thank you for the upload.

    in regards to Landon taking "forever" compared to Earl, think about how much MORE table time Earl has had in his pool career. Not to mention if you are playing a GREAT like Earl, i bet you would take more time than usual to play your next shot.

    first time I seen this kid play. wow I never see so much quit in Earl. Landon is a world class player and I believe he could end up being the best in the future. my bet is on player of the decade 2020-2030 if not we will for sure see him as a player of the year during that time if he keeps playing the way he does. and I disagree with all the people who say he is slow. he never took more then 60 sec to take a shot and if he did it was not by much. he is just meticulous. I will be following this kid from now on. this was a match for the history books a passing of the torch so to speak.

    I know hes older know but what a smart kid. Wise beyond his years.
    And so mature for his age.
    I know hes much older know.
    18 here in this match..but probably closer to 30 today.
    I recognized I needed to get a real job too. Too many ifs, ands, buts with pool for me.
    I will come back an improved version and play in some big tournaments.

    Fantastic performance from Landon, no doubt. On a side note, it gets annoying how people make excuses for Strickland. When he's shooting well everyone praises him, when he's shooting bad its "he's getting bad rolls", "he's tired", "he just finished a match right before this and didn't get to rest a little". I don't know why everyone assumes he'll destroy everyone on the planet, I've seen him lose plenty of times. He's his own worst enemy.

    Well, I think even Earl has to realize this kid is the next generation when an 18 year old kicks your butt like this. But from what I read this kid doesn't play pool anymore.

      @CAWD FATHER Not really anyone you would consider a pro. No real A's or A+ players. Mostly B, B+ and C players. Landon would be a $500.00 horse in their Calcutta.

  •  9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Landon missed the 10 ball at the 1:42:40 because it looked like he lurched forward a bit on his bridge hand, and he moved his arm a bit also. He sure uses that open bridge a lot. He's a damn good player with it, but I believe he would get even better with using a closed bridge more often.

  • @Sundappen
    @Sundappen 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good catch. That is def. a touch on the 9-ball by Landon. It even moved a little. Doesn't take anything away from a great performance by Landon though.

    No matter the sharking that Earl does or how much his mouth is running, gotta give him some respect he at least shook the kid's hand and gave him a friendly tap on the back. Earl really did respect and admire Landon's play!

  • @patrickrobichaux
    @patrickrobichaux 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The slowness makes me understand why Landon likely didn't follow pool as a career. For him, it is a lot of work. All the planning and calculations. Earl plays by feeling. There's a touch of magic in just seeing the shot and watching it go. Sure Earl does the same calculations...but he probably doesn't really think about it much. That being said this match was awesome to watch as you could watch textbook play and really think about what the next shot should be before Landon settled down to shoot.

    i'm in awe of this young man. i love earl strickland's schtick as well; too bad this wasn't his best pool. i'd like to see a rematch where earl gives the kid a little more credit pre-match. and maybe have it played at a reasonable hour. regardless, landon plays sooo well. i love watching him play!! i immediately saw something he does that i like. so i went out to my table, tried it, and was playing better.

    I haven't heard Tony's name in a long time. Man, could he shoot. I remember seeing him about 10 years ago in some tournament in Atlanta. It was a treat just to watch him warm up. He would throw the balls on the table and literally run around the table burying shot after shot; typically running out in a couple of minutes. Needless to say, he crushed everyone and won easily. What could have been :(

    Aside from being completely unsportsmanlike, Earl's bitching about Landon's pace is a giant tactical error, telegraphing to his opponent that he's already gotten into his head. Why would Landon not keep it up?

  • @michaelheller3196
    @michaelheller3196 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Landon may appear to play slower because we see him contrasted to Earl who plays relatively fast. Landon may not seem so slow matched against a more typical player. Aside from his amazing skill, his composure is beyond what is to be expected of anyone, no less an 18 year old. (Landon, if you play Tony Drago, the haters will go nuts!)

    • @johntallanger4036
