Great video Paul - I grew up in Alsager but emigrated to Australia 10 years ago - i can’t believe how much has changed in such a short period of time ! Keep up the good work

Hi Paul Thank you so much for putting this on TH-cam, my Mum grew up in Alsager in the 1920's and immigrated to NZ in 1958 she was so excited to see this. One happy lady :) Thanks Elaine

It’s amazing where these little adventures have ended up in terms of where they have been watched. But a genuinely lovely day out for me and I’d suddenly thought why don’t you share this. And comments have come from everywhere. I do these for my mum to hence why there is no swearing!!!! I’m also assuming unless you are an ex guitar player of many bands like me that does not have a proper bedtime that perhaps you are watching from out of UK? But that is such a wonderful story! Stay safe Paul

Enjoyed the video. I was born and raised in alsager but left the country back in 96. Some things look the same others not so much. But that’s progress cheers

Wow! So you might have been there when I was when the Italian football team turned up to use Alsager university as their training ground for Euro 96? Where they promptly got knocked out in the first round???!!! I had my last exam there and suddenly found myself surrounded by the entire team as I had my Walkman on and was totally spatially unaware! Barry’s pantry is still there part time so I hope to score some of his amazing oatcakes before the end of the year! Could I ask what country you are in now? Paul

@@pauljones401 actually I left in May so I just missed it. We lived opposite the college on heathwood drive for a period. Remember Barry’s pantry well. As I do the mere and lodge pubs. But boy have they changed. I live in North Carolina USA now.

trulyme88 Thank you for taking the time to comment! You’re just watching me looking at things in a very simple and unaltered way and that’s what I seem to do! Hope all are safe and when I get the use of my knee again I’ll be back out there! Paul

Where you are at about 8:00 is where an old tramway from Bunkers Hill coillery went down to the canal at 10:35 in and through that tunnel. No pits there where you were looking i'm afraid but maybe a factory in the past? At the top of Merelake way there's an old 'mineral' railway that went over to the coillery too.

Ah thank you. I’d not expected to come across what I did so I’d not researched!

@@pauljones401 I've been having a look lately as I live overlooking the fields you we're walking in by the canal. It's almost unbelievable how much industry there was.
