Great performance still standing the test of time. I would love to hear this played by modern day bands, maybe as a set test piece for a contest somewhere. Maybe I'm biased but always liked Bourgeois's music.
Thanks for posting this - was in the audience on the night and my dad was going to record it off Radio 3 for me but forgot!!!! Only ever heard the last movement since then so it's great to have a listen again!
William Walton "The First Shoot" transcribed by Elgar Howarth, was on the same programme, another piece of music hardly ever sees the light of day. Walton asked Elgar Howarth to include this in the programme.
