great video, so helpful! I thought I'd share an observation when I did this on my 03 gti vr6. Disconnect and inspect the evap pipes to the intake manifold. The accordion bends are probably leaking. The cracks can be really tough to see. Save some time chasing down p1151 too lean codes and just repair/replace while you have the intake mani disconnected. 😊
I guess Im asking the wrong place but does anybody know a way to get back into an instagram account? I was stupid forgot my account password. I would love any assistance you can give me
@Gideon Zayn i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm trying it out now. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
on my 2013 vr6 passat, none of this is necessary.all you gotta do it’s take the manifold off, all the backing of the manifold. pop the coils, and then you are free to remove the valve cover.
Is it possible to inspect the upper timing belt chain and tensioner at this time? With the intake out the seals for the intake runner should easy to replace.
So the great thing with these cars is that timing chain stretch can be monitored with a VCDS cable. We carry these on our website as well. You will be able to search the timing parameters and see exactly where your timing chain stretch lies and whether it is time to replace them or not! Another high quality video in terms of content and production! May I suggest giving a idea of how much time each DIY job takes should a subscriber decide to have an independent shop do the work.
Thank Philip, we will add estimated book time on each job in the intros moving forward it was something we had always intended to do "difficulty" and "Est time" even a cost estimate. Thanks for watching and suggesting!
Opening the head and changing the gasket opens up a whole new world of procedures and maintenance neededing to be done, so typically if the valve cover gasket is the issue, we stick to that
I swear that it looks exactly the same as my touareg 3.2 - is the intake manifold the same ? Looks exactly the same ? I broke one of my coolant hose connectors when re installing - top video !!
Hi Cory, excellent how-to video. European car engines don't use PCV but CBV/PRV - Crankcase Breather Valve/Pressure Regulating Valve aka CCV - Crankcase Valve. Both function identically, but they have different designs and shapes. A PCV has cylindrical steel or aluminum inside with a spring-loaded piston valve that regulates engine crankcase pressure and housed in a metal body. On the other hand, CBV/PRV is a complex design that uses a cylinder or box shape with a spring-loaded rubber/silicone diaphragm to regulate the pressure. Some of them are integrated into the valve cover.
@@chrisgaulding4820 No, VAG cars use CBV/PRV. I have an Audi A4 Avant quattro turbo, and it has a CBV/PRV. You can only get the CBV at the dealer or European car parts store. On the other hand, you can buy PCV valves at any automotive parts stores. The CBV/PRV is usually 2-3 x the price of the PCVs.
Removing the front bumper and placing the core support into "Service mode" truly opens up space in the engine bay and makes performing this job much easier. The Mkv engine bay with the 3.2 VR6 motor is quite crammed for space.
Different on Porsche Cayennes. Their high pressure fuel system has to be partially removed. The high pressure fuel pump and also one of the fuel rails.
Hi Cesar, unfortunately, we cannot confirm as we did not get that model equipped with the 3.2 here in the states. It would be best to try and get the OE part numbers for your vehicle and cross references what is available online, sorry for that!
Garbage VW design. They all leak to force the buyer back to the dealer. Mine is leaking on 2017 Touareg with 60,000 miles. Just after the warranty expired. Good video, thanks.
@@babagandu It should be fairly easy depending on what year you have. The later models had the two piece manifolds like all of the 3.6's after 08 so no need to put the car in service mode. Pull the intake, coil packs and a few odds and ends them remove the manifold and valve cover. If you buy the entire valve cover you get the PCV so its a direct swap. If you get just the diaphragm you have to remove the PCV from the valve cover. Its doable but not easy as it may be stuck due to age.
I did it for the first time on my wife's Touareg. I had no clue what I was doing and no workshop manual but I did it and it was not difficult at all. Just pay attention and have some triple square bits handy.

Some great camera work on this for a diy...
Im glad vw learned from this and made the newer vr6 a 2-piece manifold.... soooooo much easier to remove
Its always refreshing to see a company learn from their "mistakes"
Can this newer design 2 piece intake manifold be retrofitted to a 2008 TT VR6? What models feature the 2 piece manifold? Thank you.
Nah, it's easy. Just take the front end off! ;)
It helped a lot couse my dads VW with 3,2 is leaking at the PCV. Thanks and good video
The longest part about this job is watching this video at least 50 times to make sure I don't mess anything up
