It's pretty sad that the composer, Yushi Matsuyama of the first Mobile Suit Gundam series had died today on the same day that the first episode aired 38 years ago. He has produced a really iconic ost for the original Gundam series and it's a shame he had to die in a really tragic way.

Most notably, the first time we hear it is when Char enters the colony to try to take evidence or destroy the Project V stuff and is then fleeing through the elevator doors near where the White Base is.

Ahhh.... Back when disco was an acceptable style for combat music... Tracks like these may sound out of place by today's anime battle standards, but back in the late 70s and early 80s they were fucking bangers for watching dudes battle it out in giant robots - or in the case of Fist of the North Star, hitting each other's pressure points.
Yep, pretty much is interesting how some animes reflect what was the popular music of the times. You have Gundam using Disco in the late 70's and then Saint Seiya using Heavy Metal in the mid to late 80's.
I like to think the composer knew that the fight scenes would never get past that first section so after a minute they just went fuck it and started doing some funky shit
