Can I recite it like he does in prayer? I'm thinking there must be some methodological approach to it that I haven't heard of - or should one abstain from it?

Salam alaikum sheik, I wanted to ask, why are so many Salafis, hanbali? Is it required to be salafi? I come from a Hanafi family and I'm new to the salafi munhaj so I would really like to know, Jazakallah khairan, Salam alaikum.
Stick to your Hanafi sunnah wal jamaah. You do not need to change your mazhab. You should not follow the Salafi Minhaj because they think they follow the salaf but they are no better than anyone else. The Salafis are extreme, harsh and arrogant in their manners and practice. They have such a sad mentality thinking everyone else are wrongdoers. May Allah SWT guide and help all of us to be on the right path and practise His religion the most humble and beautiful way. AMEEN.
Akhi you can be Salafi and Hanafi. A lot of Imams of the past were Salafi and Hanafi! Imam Abu Hanifa رحمه الله is our Imam too. As for the hanbali thing, الله اعلم might just be who you watch a lot of Salafis are Shaf’i or Maliki or Hanafi as well.

Imam Adh Dhahabi even mentioned about Imam al-Daraqutni رحمهما الله that he,”hated Ilm Al Kalam and he never delved into it, because he was Salafee”. Or something of that nature. Are you saying that it is haram for us to identify and distinguish ourselves? We use it as an adjective not a noun, so keep that in mind akh. As for being harsh, than that isn’t really a point against Salafiyyah or the Sunnah as if SOME people are harsh that doesn’t reflect the manhaj/methodology. For example similar to those terrorists whom we all condemn who claim Islam but we all say they don’t represent our deen we now say that these brothers/sisters who are overly harsh don’t represent Salafiyyah. We didn’t name them Jahmiyyah or Asha’irah or Qadari or Shi’a; they happily call themselves that. So it isn’t that we label and divide it is the contrary they divide from us. As for the division, the Prophet ﷺ already told us the Ummah was going to split into 73 sects all of them in the fire except one. The sahabah asked about who the saved sect was and it was answered that they are those who are upon what the Messenger ﷺ and his companions were upon May Allaah be pleased with them. Furthermore, we do want to unite but what do we unite upon? Falsehood? We’ll unite upon the Quran and the Sunnah upon the understanding of the companions! May Allaah unite the Muslims upon the Quran and the Sunnah according to the understanding of the Salaf as Salih.
