"The Bouldorb might be really bad on the last level." It's not that the Bouldorb is bad, it's that the Wand of Skulltimate Power is like the Sapper Sack in that it's assisted suicide in an item.
nah if you have the corn that build smashes already beat all the crucibles with a similar build, though poltergeist is the legit best since it hits flying and ground enemies all at once. So for that one last boss you can deal 5000-12,000 damage no worries to all enemies.
This confirmed my suspicions that the skull wand is just suicide, even with attempts to play around it. Too many of the later stages of the game scale up the number of pegs and amount of health too much.
The only time I could use it is when I had the lifesteal relic and the corn which outweighed the damage. But at that point, x2 damage was just a bonus, as I would've been fine without it because of the healing, anyway.
idk, I think he would've been fine if he had Icecircles or Poultorbgeists instead of his Bouldorbs. The latter just hits too many pegs! Or he could've avoided the relic that made pegs durable, that made for a bad combo
corn and purple relic are the only ways to play with this damn thing with any consistency. in tom's case, the refresh heal cookie would have helped too since he had so many refreshes
20:24 Josh really should've edited in all the guys face palming Tom you were doing damage to yourself every few pegs the Ring of Indignation is SO much more than the Ambiguous Amulet :(
so what we've learned... again... is that taking stuff that hurts you is really really really bad in this and is more likely to kill you than any enemy
Nah what we've learned is that Tom just doesn't make good choices. Wand of Skulltimate Power isn't a bad item on its own--but when you pair it with a relic that makes pegs hit three times before vanishing, thus keeping the orb on screen longer and hitting more pegs, its an asisted suicide item.
I feel like the bomb conversion at 10:26 pays off more than the +1/+1 in the long run, especially as you start hitting a ton of pegs with all the extra refreshes kicking in and your bombs detonate in a single hit. Especially after 13:01 when you opted for the damage relic, at least you're taking 4 damage for every bomb created and that helps in offsetting the negative quite a bit.
Thing is, the +1/+1 is often a +5/+5 or better. If you run Bouldorb, Icircle or Poltorbgeist. Which you should if you are playing +orb damage relics. Bomb conversion on the other hand is better if you got the Bombs clear nearby pegs, +20 bomb damage and the +10 bomb damage relics. But since they are relics, this is less consistent, you'd want the bomb buffs before defining your build by bombs.
I myself would have tried the ring of indignation. You were dealing some self damage and healing, could have been a mini thorns build! Still all the love Tom!
@@ryanbolson23 Oh in my mind they were both the same instance because he basically choosing between the ring and 2 similar relics in each one. But yeah there was one at 20:21 that I didn't catch.
I know someone in the Yogscast community got over a million damage in one round before. I love this game so much! Pocket Watch is OP! It CONSTANTLY ticks! So in most levels, you can REALLY rack up damage! 11:19 This is getting out of hand… now there are two of them! 11:45 Officer Beero? I love how Tom begs the bouldorb to stop and it’s like, ‘no I don’t think I will.’ LOL 28:08 The Gift That Keeps Giving is legit my fave relic. It really helps stack up the damage since you can hit the same pegs three times before they go away, so it’s super effective in levels that have TONS of pegs close together! Love this stuff!
Oh! What a run! Really glad you took the wand, I've been curious to see how it plays. Looks legit if you have good healing and avoid high peg count orbs.
You come across a peglin in an old castle and a disembodied voice yells "stop hitting things he's already dead, no please that's enough he's dead!" And you have to just stand there and wait for the enevitable.
Man, the first time the Ring of Indignation (damage enemies 2x what you're damaged) showed up, I was like, "Oh, perfect! Tom already grabbed the relic that damages him all the time. This one will synergize with that perfectl-oh he's chosen the other one..." Luckily, he got it that 2nd time, but oof.
I still love the peggling as always, but I wanted to give you a heads up on another topic because the new demo of Dome Romantik (now Dome Keeper [question mark]) is available ! I discovered the game thanks to you and became a beta tester for it, thanks again to you ! [I'm even flattered to be in the credits as Bartholomew The 4th :] ]. If you play the demo, I hope you like the progress ! If you don't play it its fine. Have a most wonderful evening ! Boldorb, curse you you magnificient bastard
Daily reminder that Tom is an amazing person and to thank him for all he has done/will do - Day 920 Hu, I just realized the Slimes are slightly transparent XD "Bouldorb stuck, Bouldorb Stuck, please, I beg you" XD Wow, I tell you, really thought Tom was going to die in that Shadow Realm, but impressively he did pull himself back :D, only to then kill himself on the boss XD he he, what an amazing death though :D
LOL Peglin is the most Tom of all the Tom-games! Why? Because Toms brain has a unique "I meant to do that" mode - where he actually thinks the random stuff which constantly happens in this game is his own skill. Meanwhile I'm sitting here going "No... Why... How... Ok then" While Tom is saying "I need to hit bombs" (aims no where near any bombs for some reason) "Oh no... Oh dear... Well... ok ... Oh I hit those bombs... OHKAY... Nice!" - and you can basically hear him receiving an endorphin dump for his "accomplishment". I hereby name you Tom - The KING of RNG-BS! Massively entertaining my Liege - never change! Hahahaha
If tom got the ring that dealt 2x the damage he takes back at enemies, he probably could have made better use of the wand. I don't have the game, so I can't confirm if that works though. Edit: Nevermind. Just finished watching the video.
You basically never should though, at least on harder cruciball. If you don't get a boss relic it makes your run significantly worse, and pretty much every other type of relic has no downside.
Ironically enough the bombs were the smart choice over the power glove, 30 pegs of +1 is only 30 extra damage where as getting a bomb is an extra 50 that can be applied to ALL enemies. Actual good play
This was a cool run, literally every single relic Tom picked I would have picked something different tho lol was low key frustrating but cool to see what happened!
I think durable is basically a must pick every single time you see it, but other than that yeah. Wand especially is a bit soo spicy for me to take without reliable healing unless the other two are legitimately terrible, but I guess he had the doctorb so it was okay to take.
You are simply unworthy of our Lord and Saviour, Bouldourb. The path of truth and enlightenment will forever be locked to you, as will true power, for without Bouldourb, there is no meaning.
Depends on your build. With Popping Corn, it's amazing. There's also that one Lifesteal relic you can get, which also makes it really good. It can pay off hard, but in the wrong build, it's suicide.
8:00 why the hell did you discard that healing orb? there was only one enemy left, it was a free heal, with a crit in plain sight that would have gotten you back to full health!
Bouldorb: Look at me, Daddy. I'll hit all the pegs. I'm doing so much damage!
Tom (gritting his teeth): Yes, Bouldorb, you sure are
The sadness from the Bouldorb hurts got me every time.
Tom speaks with the voice of a whole generation: "I just wasn't paying attention to my life."
"The Bouldorb might be really bad on the last level." It's not that the Bouldorb is bad, it's that the Wand of Skulltimate Power is like the Sapper Sack in that it's assisted suicide in an item.

Bouldooooorb! (Feel free to read this with varying levels of joy and sadness as appropriate)
Tom: Gotta stop aiming for refreshes with my first ball
Also Tom: Always aim for refresh with first ball
The moment he got that relic, his fate4 was sealed.
Tom thought he played the dice, but he got played.
4 real dude!
The wand is such shmuck bait. It's basically untakable.
I have never watched him play this game until this video and even I knew that was probably the worst choice he could make
Tom: Takes damage every turn from hitting pegs.
Also Tom: Doesn't take relic that does 2x damage when you take damage.
Well, he did take it eventually, at least.
Tom's channel is the reason why 6pm is my favourite time of day

"Attempts".

All the self damage items are good but they require you to play in a very specific and controlled way
corn and purple relic are the only ways to play with this damn thing with any consistency. in tom's case, the refresh heal cookie would have helped too since he had so many refreshes
I'm gonna take self damage, persist and boldorb what could go wrong.
And lots of refresh on top 😂
This relic and the one with red bombs are pretty rough picks. 9 times out of 10 they kill you.
And it's Tom, he always picks the worst relics for whatever he's trying to accomplish.
20:24 Josh really should've edited in all the guys face palming
Tom you were doing damage to yourself every few pegs the Ring of Indignation is SO much more than the Ambiguous Amulet :(
literally why I came to the comments.
34:25 - Such a good moment I had to watch it again and again. Go Bouborb Go!
This is also why you don't take relics that deal you damage, when you assume you'll heal "later"
The Bouldorb is sweet, but also merciless.
Boldorb” I hurt therefore I am”
Love this series from you, Tom! Makes my day whenever I see it pop up in my subscriptions.
i knew as soon as you picked it that the peg damage was gonna get you killed XD
Bouldorb is somehow the goodest boy and the most misbehaved boy~
so what we've learned... again... is that taking stuff that hurts you is really really really bad in this and is more likely to kill you than any enemy
nah. what we've learned is that if (like Tom) your playstyle is to juggle as long as possible, things that punish long juggles will kill you.
You're saying that as if Tom ever learns from his mistakes.
I can’t believe Tom just built the complete reverse synergy built where almost everything was just fighting against itself.
Love the fun videos, thank you for your work Tom and Josh.
Drinking game idea... Take a shot every time Tom says bouldorb
don`t know if you know this but you can just right click to quickly discard orbs

The only really feasible way to get that extra relic out of the chest is to have 'short fuse' or 'enhanced powder' get lucky or both for a 100% chance
