My dad held me to this song when I was 10 years old in 2010Held me and danced with me in his arms singing this song to me. He told me that this song would be our song. He said he’d hold me till my hurts is gone. My dad died the same year in December and when I went to go find this song and listen to it I watched the video for the first time and seen it was about a young girl losing her dad but kept his spirit alive everywhere she went as she grew older. I cried so hard watching the video. It was like he knew he was going to leave me. And now this song brings me comfort when I miss him

I lost my Grandma in 2010 after her long 8 years of courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, just 3 months before my high school graduation, which she hoped to see. I didn’t initially cry at her funeral due to the fact she was no longer suffering and shock, but God knows I have suffered with grief and mourning with many tears shed since… and I know you were there at my senior prom and graduation…. after having an emotional breakdown 2 months before your departure from this world. Thank you Chad, Ryan, Mike and Daniel for this song which to this day almost 14 years since my grandma, Barbara Ann Kline left us to be with God and Jesus, whom she, like I am was a great believer in! That hole in my heart will never heal until I see you again! Until then I know you have been there in spirit at me and Garrett’s high school/college graduations and at Garrett’s wedding and when I get married and we have children of our own!
I have struggled with alcoholism and nicotine addiction but I’m still trying to battle these illnesses today with MUCH inspiration from you😢 I hope to honor you l and grandpa’s lifes by making the right decisions and always know that you are together again in paradise!

My dad and I have always been very fond of nickel back, we spent many a time listening together. I asked him once what his favourite song was and he told me it was this. I never fully understood why until I watched the video. He loves his children fiercely and whenever I watch this, not only does it bring tears but it serves a reminder of a testiment to how limitless love can be for those you love.

Not once, not ONCE have I managed to listen to this song and watch this video without tears falling down my face. It is so beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time.
It also always, ALWAYS makes me think of my own dad whom I lost (to cancer, as so many other commenters here) 13 years ago and who I still miss terribly. It was such a dark time for quite long after that, but there were a couple of things that helped me to pull through, and one of these few was Nickelback's music. I just wish the guys themselves knew how much they helped me.
My dad passed away four years ago. This song really makes me thinking that no one could replace him as the one who really understand me way better than anyone.

What the bride is going through on her wedding day is the same feeling I'll have at mine in Jan 2021. I lost my dad from cancer back in August 2018 and he was not only my dad, but the best man I ever knew and is the standard I have on what it means to be a good man, father, husband, friend, and employee.
Although he won't be there with us physically at the wedding, I know his spirit will be there smiling down upon myself, my soon to be wife, and our families on that grand day! In other words, my family and I are never alone because he's always with us in spirit!
