I lived there 20 years. Pros: Absolutely beautiful area. Safe and clean. Great fishing and boating. Nice beaches everywhere. All of the towns in the area are nice. The best place to live in the state of Michigan. Cons: The winter. It is not the best place to live in the winter time. It's only nice there 150 days out of the year. No one does videos like this of Traverse City in the winter time. It would be great to live there in the summer then snowbird it to some place warm in the winter.
Got tired of the winters and moved to Arizona. Love it here in the mountains. Not too hot. Not too cold. Just right.
Helpful hint: If you do the dune climb and decide to RUN down like so many people do, close your mouth when you know you are going to take a spill. I have seen so many people with their mouths filled with sand when they take that tumble.
OMG that's so funny and great advice on the mouth closed! LOL! Also good call on the winter! I'd love to go back and show what that's like! Arizona is beautiful as well, and MUCH milder winters! Two amazing places to live!
Those of us who live or lived there often see our selves in these vids. Like extras in a film. We just blend in.

@@thomassonnenberg1915 It can be done if you have certain skills. Wife was a nurse, and I was an electrical contractor. If you have no skills then it can be tough.

Don’t worry. Nobody can afford to travel there, much less live there. Your status is secure.
If you went to sleeping bear dunes you should’ve just gone to the cherry republic in Glen Arbor. The store there has build a whole compound!

After moving here permanently ten years ago after half a lifetime in SoCal, I continue to believe that TC/LP is the best place to live. Monica, thank you for another great video. Try the black cherry ice cream sold in the little market at Gallagher Farm. Yum! 🍒

This is one of my favorite videos about the Traverse City area ! I've had a yearning to visit TC for many years, especially during the National Cherry Festival. When I can finally go there, I might get hooked, & want to stay....

Oh gosh. Way to many people do that and it's kind of annoying to the people who have their roots here... For example, my ancestors were the people from Germany who started Lake Leelanau (previously Provemont).
My next door neighbors moved in a few years ago from somewhere SE and made their home into a summer vacation rental. With a bar a few blocks a way we get to hear all the drunk people walking back LOUDLY!
We love new people but not when they try to make it like their old place and change the way things have always been.
Btw we've gotten used to the cherry fest people... So come on over!

By the video I could tell, I knew you needed some more ideas and us locals know the best hidden gems. Keystone is right inside Traverse City, so close and so accessible. If you come back hit me up and I will give you awesome directions to some of the best kept secrets of TC
The Platter River spits you out right at the mouth of Lake Michigan, its a slow paced river with AMAZING things, loons fly right over head and deer play in front of you in the water! I recommend going closer to evening and canoeing verses tubing, as you'll get more of the wildlife adventure. My friends and I do night trips down the Platte every summer and its the most amazing experience under the clearest stars around.

Duane Martin, Leland is only about 10 minutes from Suttons Bay if you wanna check out fish town and pick up some souvenirs!
And if you go over to glen arbor that drive...9:00 I've gone down that and you could try it but it takes a long time to get up and you might need help so bring someone with you and DO NOT RUN DOWN THE HILL!! I tried it and got my ears,nose,eyes,and pretty much everything else FULL OF SAND!
I forgot to say that it was because its so steep that if you run you will fall forward and end up in a ball of sand.
I live in Traverse City. Look me up next time you come thru and I can show you everything from the good ol hippie tree by State hospital to Cherry bowl drive in. I lived here since 1997 was born in South Bend,IN wish I was born in Traverse City people are so friendly but yes it is getting bigger it still is safer than most cities. Enjoy next time you come up and look me up next time you come here Please.
TC TUNA there’s so much to do there. It’s a great city!
I moved here in 2018. Thoroughly enjoy it! Great place to raise a family or go to college at NMC!
Cost of living is high, Summer holidays it is jam-packed here but the summers are awesome!!!

Love your videos you’re always having fun and it’s contagious. My only suggestion would be look into getting some lav mics. They don’t have to be expensive some just hook up to a phone or mic. That would really make your video really pop, plus they can be as cheap as $10. Keep up the good work!

40 minutes from my hometown
It's west bay from the Old Mission lighthouse. There is a west bay and east bay and then you have to drive 30 miles to get to Lake Michigan.

I miss Michigan this time of year for sure! I love the seasons!
I lived in Michigan for 26 years and Georgia for 15 and there are pro's and cons with both, but I sure don't miss the TC winters and I prefer the warmer climate. Each to their own though.
